The two leaders in Cyprus will meet on the 1st of July to evaluate the progress achieved so far by working groups and technical committees established to prepare the ground for fully-fledged negotiations between the two sides.
The meeting between President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot Leader Demetris Christofias will be the second after the 21 March Agreement reached between the two sides.

The announcement was made by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Cyprus Taye Brook Zerihoun at a joint press briefing with senior aides of the two leaders who held another meeting at the Ledra Place Hotel in the UN-controlled buffer zone on Friday.(today)
During the press briefing, the two aides announced a list of issues on which agreement was reached by technical committees.

The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage agreed to prepare educational programs in connection with cultural heritage while the Committee on Crime and Criminal Matters reached agreement on road safety.
The two aides said that the Committee on Health has agreed on the crossing of ambulances in emergency cases and on the establishment of the Cyprus joint committee on health.

In addition to these, the Committee on Environment agreed on
the establishment of cooperation for island-wide assessment of all major waste stream qualitatively and quantitatively, and environmental education.

Answering a reporter’s question on when comprehensive negotiations would start, Presidential Adviser Ozdil Nami reminded that the 21st March Agreement envisaged the start of negotiations at the end of June and said the Turkish Cypriot side does not expect a huge delay in the start of negotiations.

Responding to the same question, Yorgos Yakovu – an aide to the Greek Cypriot Leader said the two leaders were scheduled to hold 2 more meetings, one in June and the other in July but said that the meeting scheduled for June will now take place on the 1st of July.
During the press conference, Mr Zerihoun said that a list of additional measures will be announced in the coming days in addition to those announced on Friday.

Oracle I see you too are over it just as much as I ;) interesting how the Turk demotes the rightful one and only recognised President of Cyprus to a leader and elevates the tantrum throwing Turkish puppett :):):):):):):) Mr Christofias thus far has shown himself to be agentleman and a true Cypriot President willing to make it a better place for all Cypriots.

I sincerely wish him good luck in dealing with the Turkey.

The political scene is changing rapidly. The climate in Brussels yesterday is a clear indication. A friend covered the meeting and told me that Chritofias was warmly wwelcomed by EU leaders and MEPs. At the same time an exhibit of Greek Orthodox churches in the north was opened in the Europarliament and attracted lots of attention.

Talat hs to be careful on how he handles the situation. It is the best chance for a solution and a solution which will be worked out between Cypriots. It is a big test for him now.

I don't think he has what it takes to negotiate for his constituents. The TC's needs someone of Denktas calibur to negotiate reunification plan for his people. His recent behaviour in relation to the dinner has shown a less capable leader, whilst the President of the Republic has shown to be diplomat and a humanitarian, allowing for the wothdrawl of 8 items to be dropped against Turkey including allowing aid to the occupied areas for the TC's has been a positive action that will herald him a hero regardless of the outcome.

you are right though Nikitas very important time for the TC's in this country.
