Brits are 'bloody miserable'

Politics.co.uk - Friday, June 20 10:35 am

The junior transport minister has caused a minor political storm by calling his countrymen "bloody miserable".

Writing on his blog, Tom Harris, MP for Glasgow South, said Britain had never had it so good, but that it had not made most Britons any less grumpy.

"There are more two-car homes in Britain today than there are homes without a car at all," he said.

"We live longer, eat healthier (if we choose), have better access to forms of entertainment never imagined a generation ago (satellite TV, DVD, computer games), the majority of us have fast access to the worldwide web, which we use to enable even more spending and for entertainment. Crime is down.

"So why is everyone so bloody miserable?

"What happened to that post-war optimism and commitment to common values?" he continues.

"Are they gone forever and if so, why? If not, how can we bring them back?"

The blog provoked an instant response from the Tories, with shadow treasury chief secretary Philip Hammond saying: "The short answer to Mr Harris's question asking why everyone is so miserable is, 'We've got Gordon Brown as our prime minister'."

Well I say...Tom Harris is talking absolute BoLLock5!!

"Never had it so good"??? Why then are house prices falling and plunging more people than ever into negative equity, in numbers not seen even back in the eighties, early 1990s.

"More two car homes...", but nobody can afford to run the effin things. If the US are protesting about fuel prices, God help us when we're paying over 4 times as much per gallon.

"Better access to entertainment..." only because it' nearly £3 pint in the pubs and no-one can afford to go out!

"What happened to that post-war optimism and commitment to common values?" Well, that was post-war and people were bloody glad they had survived the horrors of the nazi german bastards!!

...Oh and we're not all on your £76,500 pr annum salary either you smug tw4t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :2guns:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! I feel better now :D 8)

There you go! ... let it all out! :D

Here to help frustrated Brits air their grievances and reach nearer to Nirvana 8)

Now Xybadog ... where have you been? ... looking forward to Cyprus still? ... everything is miles better here :D ... but some of the grumpier Brits refuse to acknowledge that.

Don't want to let go of family loyalty ties to misery .... so they keep trying to tell me I am wearing rose-tinted spectacles ... but if they took their grey-tinted specs off they might see beyond their pink noses ...

Hi O. I've been away on business for a few days. Just flew back today. Definately still looking forward to coming over in October. I'm actually planning on bing too busy hile I'm there though. I'm only over for a week but I want to get 4 days of mountain biking in the Troodos and Akamas and 2 days of jet skiing.
Thinking of getting a one way ticket and becoming a beach-bum.
