TRNC: the gambling land

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

TRNC: the gambling land

Postby RAFAELLA » Thu Jun 19, 2008 3:55 pm

The occupation regime became a land of gambling
Under the title “TRNC: the gambling land”, Turkish Cypriot daily Ortam newspaper (19.06.08 ) reports in its first page that the “government” of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) gave permission for 20 new gambling houses. The paper publishes a document with the decision of the “council of ministers”, dated 19 December 2007, according to which sixteen licenses for gambling houses were granted. The decision was extended for four more licenses later. The paper accuses the “CTP government” which stated in the past that it will make the “TRNC” an island of knowledge with the universities. The paper notes that CTP is turning the island into a land of gambling.

In addition, Turkish Cypriot daily Afrika newspaper (19.06.08 ) reports that a casino license was given to the four-star Pia Bella Hotel in occupied Keryneia. The paper publishes documents which show that the permit was renewed from the 20th December 2007 until the 19th of December 2008, by the self-styled finance minister Ahmet Uzun and notes that the “minister” said lies when he was asked on the issue since he denied that he gave this permit but now the documents show otherwise.

You can gamble for match-sticks, you can gamble for gold,

Your stakes may be heavy or small,

But if you haven't gambled for LOVE (and lost),

Then you haven't gambled at all.

In my humble opinion.

roseandchan, such a statement must be a contradiction in terms since, if the TRNC is an illegal state, every subject of it must be a foreigner surely ?.

The TCs are gambling every day ... holding onto other people's land and hoping they can keep it!

before living here we had never been to a casino, not our thing but friends invited us a couple of times. jasmin court is full of turkish and greek cypriots people here for the weekend. the tc are not ment to be there atall, but they do. students are also not allowed even if they are old enough. the police do raid them sometimes.

Athens has a population of 4 million people and one casino is enough to cater to their needs, and Greeks are gamblers by nature. How does the TRNC fill those dozens of casinos? No wonder they offer additional incentives like limo rides from the checkpoints and "escorts". Sener Levent called the system "Pimp's Republic" last year. Maybe he was right.

Maybe they should go back to Turkey instead of building casinos.
