One possibility is to get the bus from Limassol to Nicosia (9 buses per day, single fare 6 euros, travelling time about 1 hour 45 minutes), walk along Ledra Street and cross at the new crossing point then make your way to Kyrenia Gate (Girne Kapısı) in the north of Nicosia (allow about half an hour), and from Kyrenia Gate there are frequent buses to Kyrenia - you had better ask for "Girne" on that side - (journey time about half an hour). It can be done if you want to go under your own steam.

Many thanks for your help.
We are back in Limassol mid september and myself and my husband are really looking forward to being there. And we are looking to get out and explore we have been to Limassol many times and have done the many tourist trips but never been to Kyrenia- mainly because our best friends are Greek Cypriot and we know of the heartache they and their families have been through.

Peaches,if you are limited on time, Kyrenia harbour is where you will probably get the most out of your visit. There is Kyrenia castle - right on the harbour and well worth a tour, and then you could have lunch in one of the converted carob warehouses overlooking the water. Wherever you go, have a lovely time!!
