The great Windies teams of the 1970s were hugely important in promoting a new self-confidence in Caribbean independence.

And of course the Aussies, New Zealanders, South Africans joined the Indians, Sri Lankans and Pakistanis in defeating England.

Cricket is a great revolutionary game (read the work of CLR James, -Guardian cricket correspondent from the 1930s)

Yes and we have the Marxist philosophy to boot ....

As an excuse for quashing down the refreshments I would hazard it meets with your approval ...

When I was a kid growing up in Stroumbi the Great , I remember playing a sort of a cricket type of a game called LINGRI , similar to cricket but not half as boring as bloody cricket I cant stand the stupid game , as I have previously said the most boring people on earth are Asians and what do they do to alleviate their boredom , play stupid cricket !!
I hate the game just as much as I hate Traffic Wardens !
Think I will have another glass of red !

Milti, we should start a Lingiri team. I was brought up with it. I was good at Puffuro, I had big lungs.

I know the GCs call it Lingri, but in TC vernacular it was Lingiri   In TC you dont normally have two consonants adjacent with each other in a sylable. eg in Turkey it was sipor where we say sport. Weird. Puffuro is the only other Lingri term I recal. Great fun it was.

A. Corpse is reputed to have DISCOVERD cricket from Asia and brought it back to the UK , cricket was first invented in Stroumbi The Great , it was called Lingri or Scatoullika and somehow found its way in Asia where it went through a transformation process and became the boring old game as we know it today with its many runs hundreds of them in fact and one or two not outs !!!!
Having discovered the true meaning of life I do not claim that I invented it
neither did the discoverer of penicillin claimed to have invented it , penicillin that is , so as you see O , Cricket was there to be discovered not invented as God was !!!
