Help: water pressure!!!

Postby craigbeck » Sat Jun 14, 2008 6:25 am

I am having a problem with the water - ha who isn't!!

My water tank is bone dry, when the water comes back on in the morning it doesn't start filling - is this just because there is not enough pressure to get up to the loft or is it a plumbing fault?

Anyone had a similar problem?

Loads of people have this problem, it's the lack of pressure as you had guessed. One solution is to get another tank installed at ground level with a pump to get it up to your loft tank. Call any plumber and they will give you a quote for doing it.

Just a thought Craig - don't you have a pump to fill the tank in your loft? I've just moved into a new house, and found that the pump was defective. After having it replaced, everything is now as it should be.

Some of the pumps are fitted with a priming button.

If you have a pump in the loft and it isn't working check to see if there's a button or switch on it (usually a push button with a rubber cover over it).

Pushing it may get it working again (though you'd probably have to keep doing it every time the system runs dry).

Pump appears fine, the tank in bone dry so there is nothing to pump anyway

Where is the imported water going to then?

There is a remote possibility that the ball valve in your tank may be blocked with sediment.

If this is not the problem and you still can't get water into the tank then your only recourse is to fit a tank and pump downstairs. Not cheapp but does the trick.
