The easiest way to prove it's the pressure is to tie some string to the end of your hosepipe, switch it on and pull it up from an upstairs window. You will be able to see the height that the water is getting to before the pressure can't overcome the rise.

My water tank is bone dry, when the water comes back on in the morning it doesn't start filling - is this just because there is not enough pressure to get up to the loft or is it a plumbing fault?

Anyone had a similar problem?

Check that the tank’s floater, the plastic ball on a rod in the tank that opens or shuts the water valve, can travel up and down freely. It may be stuck in the horizontal position from dirt thus keeping the valve permanently shut.

NB: If pressure was the problem you’d have the same problem all year round.

A lot of folk I've spoken to over the last couple of months are convinced that the water from Greece will solve all our problems ~ sadly it won't.

The water tankers will be docked at Limassol and provide water to the Limassol area ~ the only benefit you wil see in Larnaca is that there might be less water pumped from the two desalination plants along the pipeline to Limassol but I honestly doubt that it will make much difference.

To be honest whilst the water from Greece is welcome I'm afraid it won't solve our problems only a heavy rainfall this winter and increasing the output from the desalination plants ( plus building new ones ) will effect a cure.
