Apparently I can attend a course for naughty boys that speed and avoid the 3 points but it still costs me £30. I feel bloody sick about it because I was doing someone a favour at the time.

Do everyone a favour and quit speeding ....

(Those are killing speeds!)

And I suppose Mrs Bloody perfect has never driven even 1 mph above a speed limit. First time in 45 years you mouthy mare, I wonder how good your record will be in that time.

38 miles is NOT BLOODY SPEEDING !!

Miltiadis, it is speeding if the limit was 30mph  ... that's 26% higher than it should be. It's the difference between giving someone you hit a 20% chance of survival if you kept to 30mph or ZERO chance of survival by doing 38mph.

I am sure that wasn't the first time you went way over the speed limit Jerry; just the first time you were caught.

My dad's favourite expression when being driven by me was "If I wanted to go this slowly I'd have gone by a donkey!"

Precisely Jerry ... I don't speed .... :D

Before paying any parking, speeding fine etc I think that every citizen has a duty, where possible, to appeal, to ask for more and better information re: the alleged offence and in this way to cause delays and costs and reduce the money generated by these scams. It costs the price of a postage stamp and the original fine is honoured if you loose. There's nothing to loose, so appeal and and clog up the systems.

In Jerry's case this link might be useful:-

Yes Bill clog up the system with crap instead of accepting your punishment for doing wrong like a man. Makes loads of sense doesn't it to create unecessary work.

Miltiades, it's very good of you to keep calling me rich and successful but could you please tell me where I've said this?

You still fail to say how immigrants are ruining your quality of life. 10 children die every minute from malnutrition. I doubt any of them are in the deteriorating UK where the population just follows the USA in getting obese.

Well we will have to take your word for that won't we. Quite frankly I doubt if there is one driver in the UK or Cyprus that can honestly say that they have never exceeded a speed limit even by 1mph - unless of course you are a donkey or a mare.

Whereas you would have us believe that in 45 years of driving this was your first time that you exceeded the speed limit ... and what bad luck that was the time you happened to get caught.

Admit it Jerry, it's the fact you (eventually) got caught that pisses you off ... not that you never usually speed!

Sounds like you were lucky to get away with it for so long ..

So £60 is a pretty cheap let-off ....

I would say to Feisty that we all have a right to a fair trial when it comes to these and other matters. These aren't matters of crap. The fact that the police or a local council or a traffic warden puts a penalty charge in the post or on your windscreen does not prove the crime. The police and the others are not judge and jury. You have every right to contest their charge, to ask for their evidence, to check that their speed cameras have been duly calibrated in accordance with regulations etc etc. and all this can be done without the expense of going to court.

For the speeding and parking charges to stick they ( the police, local council etc ) must have regard to every single letter of the law and relevent regulations. (Let me stress that these aren't loopholes in the law but are often bad practice or lazy procedures.) If they don't they are not acting within the law and it's sad when some support these authorities when they seek to prosecute outside the law. Every citizen must ensure that these authorities act lawfully.

So I must say again, contest these things, clog up the system and who knows perhaps the police and councils will turn their attention to more important matters than minor alleged speeding and petty, parking violations.

Feisty , quality of life in the UK has greatly deteriorated over the last 15-20 years or so. All of us understand that if comparing the UK to some god forsaken country like Afghanistan , Sierra Leone , Pakistan Bangladesh then of course the UK quality of life is far superior , but we are comparing the quality of life of an advanced nation such as the UK and the majority of British people will tell you we have fallen behind many European countries .
Take a walk in any part of London and what do you see ? Dirty looking immigrants , gypsies out thieving , bins overflowing with garbage , Traffic Wardens everywhere and people spitting in the street dressed as if they just stepped out of medieval times.
I'm an immigrant and so are 300 thousand or so Cypriots , G/Cs and T/Cs but we realized that this country is the UK not Turkey , Greece or Cyprus and we adapted , blended in , respected and still do the local cultures . T/Cs are not demanding that our UK schools should teach them Arabic , G/Cs are not demanding that they should be taught Greek , so why on earth these third world immigrants demand such changes.
May I also ask why on earth did schools drop assembly just because some third world immigrants found it ...offensive .
Our hospitals , with the exception of very few such as the Royal Marsden in Sutton and Fulham , are mostly staffed by third world workers , some that I have had direct experience with should be demolished forthwith , some are unsafe to be admitted to so much so that many patients who have the means go private.
I can go on and on about the deterioration of life in the UK not just London but in rural England too, in the Midlands where you come from also !

Apart from all these we have become a nation of swindlers from the Banks to the Insurance companies , Local authorities , Solicitors , every one out to grab as much out of your wallet as possible .British Gas have a call out rate of £148 plus vat !!! Try getting British Gas to come out to your business weekends and bank holidays the rate almost doubles !!
To top it all up we have bloody Coronation Street and East Enders feeding the public at large with crap day in and day out , in the the case of Coronation Street for over 50 years and as if that wasnt enough another master piece is introduced to compliment the two highly sophisticated soaps none other than the ultra sophisticated "in house entertainment "
guess the name !!
