It's unfair to assume such a thing. I've seen many Brits act like they're the master race while on vacation. They're even worse than the Germans and well up to par with Americans (who truly think they own everything, know everything and expect everything to be 'like home'). That says a lot doesn't it? However, these arseholes are a minority if you consider all tourists worldwide one homogenous group.
Believe it or not... but some people actually make their beds, clean up the worst mess (wiping sand, throwing garbage etc) in their hotel rooms even though it's included in the price paid. Some people give gifts to workers just to say 'thank you for making our visit a nice one' rather than throwing them a handful of unwanted change like they're some kind of monkeys dancing to the tune of a barrel organ. Some people know that bad service at a restaurant doesn't necessarily mean lazy staff. Some are intelligent enough to understand that the totally stressed out waiter/waitress most likely are being plagued by some Brits treating them like uncivilised natives being unable to understand what they demand.
I hear the master race all the time wherever I go. They always seem to speak s l o w e r and LOUDER to make sure they're understood and to get what they want. They really think people are less worth than themselves. Thank God they're a minority among tourists in general. Sadly a majority of them seem to have invaded Cyprus.
Be nice, treat people with respect and you will receive the very same treatment back! It's that simple.
