how easy is it to drive to cyprus from england with a dog?

Me and my partner are moving to cyprus in february next year, we didnt like the thought of flying over with our dog, and thought it would be an adventure to drive over, however it looks like there are no ferries for passengers from greece to cyprus.. can this journey be done or are we all barking mad to attempt it??

There are many ferry crossings ... just that none take pets.

We flew with dog to Paphos ... no problems.

I think BA do pet-carrying as Cargo now; Heathrow to Larnaca ...

When we came, you could fly to Paphos also, with the dog as excess baggage.

Do you have a Pet Passport sorted ?

Mina , welcome to the forum and good luck with your postings.

The R.A.C. offer an excellent free service for the journey you are proposing, they will supply you with a comprehensive itinerary complete with maps, estimatsd times and mileages from door to door together with details of accommodation 'En Route', all of which you may print off freely.

You may have difficulty with the dog however, I think you should make some enquiries about the quarantine requirements well in advance of your intended adventure.

It will be a trip of a lifetime (if you undertake it) and I wish you every success with it.

Best Wishes. Eliko.

BTW ... If you go to the north with a pet (mammal) then you wish to return to the UK ... your pet will face 6 months quarantine as the north is not recognised by DEFRA.

The Carrier box has to be exactly the right size ... they are all very strict about this .. so that the dog can move around freely.

BA were fine .... but are you planning to visit the north?

What do you mean you have paperwork but not passport?

Has your dog had a rabies vaccination and blood test?
