GC racist youth attack foreigners

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby GeorgeV97qaue » Wed Jun 11, 2008 4:09 pm

Greeks are not rasist. I'm a greek cypriot that lives in North London. The GC community gets on very well with the black community. I suggest the supid idiot Turkan looks at his own community before pointing his finger. I have many black friends and my niece is engaged to black guy. We have welcomed him into our family.

Just because the turks are rasist it doesnt mean the rest of us are.

What connotations does 'mavro' have to make it derogatory lol? Your trying to say that the Greek Cypriot community in London is racist towards the Black community which is bullshit. Yeah there are probably one or two generally racist Greek Cypriot people but the same goes for all ethnic communities and i've never encountered a malitiously racist Greek Cypriot. Id really like to check up on your vox-pops on how the Black community feel about the word 'mavro' lol. Lets face it, its not like you go around asking Black people how they feel about this word is it. Your talking shit now.

Hmm, im pretty fluent in greek, trust me i know what it means to call someone mavro. The only person chatting shit here is you. Especially the part about the 'one or two' LOL

I've noticed tho that many Turks i've come accross are racist about almost everyone if you get close enough to them to see it for yourselves. Greeks, Blacks, Kurds, Arabs. The list goes on and on. Its no wonder when the person you idolise as a God (Ataturk) tells you that 'one Turk equals the world' and 'the only friend of a Turk is another Turk'.

Perhaps its one or two turks you have met. ' Greeks, Blacks, Kurds, Arabs. The list goes on and on.' Its surprising, this is pretty much my impression of greeks in general.

Ataturk, never once mentioned 'one turk equals the world', and 'the only friend of a turk is a turk' is something set in turkish mythology, it is not ataturks invention and you will find the same saying among the kurds except its 'the mountains are the only friends of kurds'. Your kafene talk is getting boring.

So go on, what is this secret meaning of the word 'mavro' that most of us Greek Cypriots here dont know??

Perhaps its one or two turks you have met. ' Greeks, Blacks, Kurds, Arabs. The list goes on and on.' Its surprising, this is pretty much my impression of greeks in general.

OK i get it - so when i make an observation, your going to turn around and say "No its not - its Greeks but they do it worse". Yeah right, Greek Cypriots get on well with the black community and most of my close friends are black. You see lots of Greek Cypriots in the Kurdish shops too and we get on well with Arabs also.

Ataturk, never once mentioned 'one turk equals the world', and 'the only friend of a turk is a turk' is something set in turkish mythology, it is not ataturks invention and you will find the same saying among the kurds except its 'the mountains are the only friends of kurds'. Likewise with your Turkish denials.

Ataturk did say this though I find hilarious because he didnt mention it was at the expense of others.

'We Turks are a people who, throughout our history, have been the very embodiment of freedom and independence.'

Racism is a problem everywhere, not just in Cyprus. Do a search in the news and you will find many more and much more serious cases around the world.

If you consider that Cyprus has a huge number of foreigners as a proportion to its population, a world record in the amount of asylum seekers per capita, and massive amounts of illegal immigrants that are channeled to the free areas via the occupied ones, then if you put things into perspective you will realize that while the problem of racism exists, it is definitely not extensive.

The important thing is that such racist actions are illegal in all modern democratic states. On the contrary racism is the official policy of Turkey in Cyprus (and not only), since they want to ethnically cleanse the majority of the native population from their homeland, so they can create by force some fake "Turkish" state on it.

This story does NOT belong in the "Cyprus Problem" section of the forum.

Even if the attack was against a Turkish Cypriot it would still NOT qualify as a "Cyprus Problem" thread so please be careful how you use the forum lest you be branded a racist yourself.

Nothing here, perhaps iceman can inform us and maybe you can provide us with some evidence.

In the meantime I hear the teachers union over there has just found out that only 34% of the kids in schools over there are TC!!!!! Think you have bigger problems right now.

Source: Sener Elcil (spelling definitely wrong) President of KTOS (teachers union)
