GC racist youth attack foreigners

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby turkkan » Wed Jun 11, 2008 3:04 pm

Lol you guys are quite unbeleivable, the above story is tantamount to me saying my friend got beaten up by a pakistani in east london, so i get a bunch of my friends (30 in this case!)and because i dont know which pakistani exactly beat my friend up i go from house to house in east london and break down every pakistani families houses and either assault them or damage their property. That this was a racist attack should be plainly obvious to everyone.

Whats funny is that you wouldnt had posted the same article of the words Greek Cypriot were replaced by Turkish Cypriot. There's racism all over the world, even in islands as small as Mauritius; and because CYprus is such a small island even isolated incidents make the news. The funny thing is though is that your using this article as propaganda in the 'Cyprus Problem' section.

Turkkan, how about you find the article about Turkish Cypriot football fans in the north making monkey chants towards black players? Would you post that for us too?

Turks are some of the most racist people in the world - constantly using malitious language towards other races...and this was admitted to me by a Turkish Cypriot in London.

Rebel, it dosent matter what i would have posted or not under different circumstances- given how little i post here its something i doubt you can make a judgment on- what matters is that a clearly racist act, by 30 individuals no less, is described by most forumers here as not 'being racist' as an underage cypriot was attacked previous to this incident. I obviously posted this for a propaganda purpose to post a few laughs, but the reaction is certainly startling. Whats even funnier though, was that if this happened in the north to a number of british landowners,we would not have heard the end of it for a few days about 'racists turks and how the greek side warned them'.

Is this turkish cypriot our spokesman by any chance? Turkish cypriots may be racist, but i doubt it compares to the greek cypriots of England. Be sure to ask any black person who went to school in north london what the word 'mavro' means and you will be surprised at their knowledge of greek.

Parliament condemns racist rampage
By Jacqueline Theodoulou

THE CHAIRMAN of the House Human Rights Committee yesterday strongly condemned the racist rampage that took place in Ypsonas on Sunday night.

“As a Committee we condemn the incidents of stone-throwing at houses and beating foreigners that live in our country,” said Sophocles Fyttis of DIKO.

“If these foreigners had done something it should have been reported to the police and not have citizens, youths or elderly people taking the law into their own hands,” he added.

As a state, said Fyttis, “we must respect the laws that regard the protection of human rights, whether they are foreigners or not”.

He said some foreigners arrived in Cyprus legally and others illegally, but they all had human rights and did not deserve to come under attack.

“For this reason, we are calling on the police and state authorities to locate the high risk areas – if we can call them that – and exercise better policing,” Fyttis said.

He said this incident should concern society, “because it is not the first time we have heard about incidents against foreigners and we don’t believe that this ‘isolated incident’ was indeed isolated.”

Fyttis added that this would lead to more youths believing it was OK to attack or stone foreigners, “because unfortunately, even thought there is not much racism in the country, there is a lot of xenophobia”.

Ionas Nicolaou of DISY said he hoped the Ypsonas incidents were isolated and did not become subject to generalisations “that do not promote our culture”.

He said he wasn’t aware of a general problem between Cypriots and foreigners living in Cyprus.

“There may be, and there are problems with the presence of foreigners in Cyprus,” said Nicolaou. “We are noticing some offences, even crimes that are being committed mainly by immigrants such as many traffic violations that are fatally dangerous, break-ins and robberies and many more.”

lol Yeah, dont worry they all know. Lets a representative from the Black community in north London and ask them shall we. So 'mavro' means black? so what? What are we supposed to call black people in Greek?? So does that mean that anyone who says the word 'black' in the English language is racist too?? Lets face it, you Turks think your a super-race, hence the reason why Turkey doesnt really have any allies in the Middle-East and much of your diaspora tends to hold onto this ideology.

I dont think you could be more wrong about Greek-Cypriots in London - its just a chance allegation you've made which is laughable.

Your analysis on turkey and its neighbours is quite astounding, obviously you have studied the matter in some greate depth.

As for the mavro business, you know as well as i do its a derogatory term when a greek says it to an afro-carribean and ive come across it more than a few times for it to be simply to chance. No black person i know said that that he felt it was being used in a neutral way. And thats putting it politely. Eitherway its obviously not anything i can stand by or prove or is necessarily true for all your community, but its as defendable as your comment on your TC friend who told you that turks are some of the most racist people on earth.

Turkkan the only rasists on the Island are the Turks. They are the ones that refuse to allow maronites & greek cypriots to return to the homes.

Get you facts straight before posting shite. You are an absolute muppet.

As a British permanent resident of Limassol, this news story obviously concerns me. However, I have never detected the slightest hint of racism in my dealings with local people, and I am sure that this was an isolated and anomalous incident.

How is it derogatory? What connotations does 'mavro' have to make it derogatory lol? Your trying to say that the Greek Cypriot community in London is racist towards the Black community which is bullshit. Yeah there are probably one or two generally racist Greek Cypriot people but the same goes for all ethnic communities and i've never encountered a malitiously racist Greek Cypriot. Id really like to check up on your vox-pops on how the Black community feel about the word 'mavro' lol. Lets face it, its not like you go around asking Black people how they feel about this word is it. Your talking shit now.

I've noticed tho that many Turks i've come accross are racist about almost everyone if you get close enough to them to see it for yourselves. Greeks, Blacks, Kurds, Arabs. The list goes on and on. Its no wonder when the person you idolise as a God (Ataturk) tells you that 'one Turk equals the world' and 'the only friend of a Turk is another Turk'.
