If you don;'t mind me asking was the property you own in the north GC owned or TC owned?

I didn't say I owned "property" in the north but I did state that I have a joint ownership / partnership in a couple of nice plots over there ~ there was absolutely no mention of any property involved.

I already have a couple of plots in the north as it is but I'm quite happy in Larnaca as a place to live ~ more like a proper place rather than a pro military state .

Although the northern parts of the island are very pretty and steeped in history I don't think it's the right time go and live there just yet.

Having met Bill and his wife recently, and without giving away his personal details, I would say that it is most unlikely that he illegally owns land in the north.

Keep digging and you will fall into a hole.

the new estate agents angle here is that when you go to buy they tell you the land or house is pre 74 turkish title. then 2-4 years later when you are about to get the title deed they drop it on you that its exchange land. we met a couple this week who were throwing a mental about one of the big estate agents who did this to them. they just found out.

Anyone who buys in the north does so with the express knowledge that the foreign office advise against it so they have only themselves to blame whatever happens in the future.
I personally will not visit the north under any circumstances whilst it is illegally occupied. That is just my personal preference and I don't preach to anyone else about what they should do, but then again I, nor any of my family, was prevented from living on my property and know if I were I would probably feel more aggrieved.
