Enclaves are a sore point. Highlight it who ever they are. TCs were once enclaved (for whatever reason) and now the GCs.

I spoke to this lady a couple of years ago and if I remember well her name is Despina and she comes from a small village in Pafos ( cant remember the name of the vilage). She has been in the monastery since the 50's)

Finally if you visit this beatiful monastery or any other churches DO NOT PUT MONEY IN THE MONEY BOX . IT WILL END UP IN THE POCKETS OF THE POLICE. JUST GIVE THE MONEY DISCRETLY TO A PRIEST OR TAKE CANDLES WITH YOU FROM THE FREE AREAS.

I am really moved by this woman's bravery ... she is a lit candle, which reminds us there is still hope to get our country back urgently, and out of the hands of the oppressing murderous Turks.

How do the enclaved GCs cope .... is there some kind of Charity which we can donate funds to that can reach them?

I was under the impression that in most orthodox churches there is a old lady who "looks after" the church.

I haven't actually seen her but will look out for her next time I'm in the area .

I saw the priest when I was last there but didn't see her.

I would imagine she is one of the enclaved GC probably a nun if she has been there since the 50's .

I wouldn't exactly paint her as a saint but no doubt she is a dedicated believer.
