The Turkish Cypriot acquittal of responsibility…

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Oracle » Thu Jun 12, 2008 12:13 pm

Greek should be the only Official Language on Cyprus to stop future posturings by minorities asking for every language that they come attached to being officiated and continuing to cause divisions.

Cyprus comes with Greek.

Turkish is not an exception just because the British told us it should be.

OK miltiades have it your own way lets say they did not rip him to shreds but he got attacked by a pack of hardliners with who he made no in roads into the uncompromising stance, they feel they are right and will not see or accept anyone else's views let alone accommodate them.

I have to disagree on the you are the majority comment, if this forum is anything to go by you are not a minority but an extinct breed of optimists.

A poll carried out a couple of weeks ago showed support for the" hardliners " at about 30% , while a further 30% were non committal and 40% supported my peaceful and wise views. I call this the majority.!!

It doesn't really matter who has the 'wise views', it will all come down to who "cries" the most in front of the TV audience.

I am not advocating any particular line on a solution, but the main propblem is that too many people are not aware of the implications of any plan that is put before them, and rely on the opinions of others who are not informed either.

I am amazed by the number of people that accept whatever they read in the newspapers (if they read them) as the Gospel truth, without crosschecking the sources of the information.

Listen Mr , those of us who read the newspapers are fully aware that you mustn't believe all you read in them , but to actually have the time to crosscheck A STORY ??? Very difficult , just read carefully and you will make up your own mind as to the validity of a story .

Your desire to live in an area where no greek is heard as you've quoted many times touches my heart. Your "vision" is blinding.

I did not say no Greek but an area where Turkish is the predominant language as if we take a visit to the south today we feel like foreigners as we do not understand the language the same can be said when we go to Italy or France we do not want to be foreigners in our own country.

here you go my visionary friend...i'll dig up a bit more when i get the time

I appreciate your criticism mentioned above but can't help noticing the entire blameless attitude against people that freely spread hate-mongering between the 2 communities...that FREAKED out when a proposed meeting between tc's and gc's was to be had...a person who insists that WHOEVER is leader on our side (these are his words now) he wants to live in a country where his children will not hear any greek spoken.

Are you referring to me? would you like to live in a country where Turkish is spoken in daily life at the butchers, in local government buildings, just like you were living in Turkey but in fact you are in a country you call your own
.

OK miltiades,

I can normally discern how much bullshit I am being fed by the media, but sometimes we can be misled into disbelieving something that we shouldn't. I don't crosscheck every story I see, but important ones I try to.
