He IS senior to most of us and I feel we should make some allowances for that fact, he is a Grandparent and I am sure we are all aware of the unfortunate condition of his wife.

miltiades has seemingly singled me out for 'Special Treatment' and I have suffered his abusive and insulting attacks upon my person and my educational qualifications to a point almost beyond endurance, Yet, still I feel a certain reluctance to retaliate to one such as he, I think he reminds me of my own Father in some ways.

NOT (I hasten to add) that his characteristics or verbal expressions are the same, simply because I regard him as an older family man, due the respect such a one should have.

I know (as does everyone) that miltiades and Get Real do not see eye to eye, their reasons are not my business, they are grown men.

I would say however, that in the exchanges between the two of them, I think Get Real exhibits a little too much exuberance in his attacks (supported by his very funny emoticons) and miltiades may well feel hurt by them which should not be our intention when discussing matters of conflicting views.

Also, offering insult to a man's Family is surely a matter which need not be open for discussion, we all know it is quite unacceptable.

No offence intended to either party (or any other) I just felt the need to mention these points since I DID open this thread in order to communicate my views to miltiades in response to his request.

I will conclude by saying that my expectations of being understood by the gentleman, have suffered some abatement.

That's miltiades, what more can one say. ?.

Respect. Eliko.

I'm starting to realize that you are the problem behind this clown we call "Miltiades" Eliko, because no sooner did you post this ridiculous eulogy that the treasonous clown had his batteries charged enough to post this load of crap just two minutes later...

I hold you PERSONALLY responsible for this and I am NOT amused.

Once again , IPEN O GAROS TOU PETINOU TSIEFALA.
Which sentence of mine did your twisted little mind of minute brain capacity find comical , the one about Flying pigs maybe ?
Clowns are generally funny people that endeavour to make people laugh , like you for example with your devotion to detail when it comes to the usage of emoticons !!
You are a first class loser , a comedian , who wouldn't be , after all Plonker you are advocating the use of MERsENARIES to help liberated Cyprus , what a bloody clown !!
ps. I have left one spelling error see if you can spot it , left you a clue too !!

What's wrong with mercenaries? They've been used the world over since time began. They are in use in at least 30 nations as we speak, supporting armies that have weaknesses in one or more areas (skill, training, equipment, logistics, manpower etc).
The money is shit for the job they do, but 99% have a real reason to be there, not a case of just wanting to go round killing people. They want to make a difference, do their bit for the cause if you like. They are all well trained men, though some shit gets through the net from time to time, and they're more disciplined sometimes than regular forces.
Maybe they would be a solution to the problem.

Eliko , where the hell did you get 'SHOULD NEGOTIATIONS FAIL' Are you reading your own views ?

miltiades, much as I dislike the practise of selecting small sections of one's posts in order to press a point (although I, like you, do so quite often) I am pleased to note that you have done a little research which may help in revealing the answer to your 'Currently Favourite' question.

As I have clearly stated, I voted for Get Real as a result of 'MY INTERPRETATION' of what he was proposing.

If you READ through the section of your post (which I have selected above) you might just notice where a reference to 'Gaining the upper hand in technology, political influence and overall balance of power' is made.

It is in those areas that I would suggest the notion (SHOULD NEGOTIATIONS FAIL) may have occured to ME and I have clearly stated that the words you have so eagerly selected ARE mine and not those of Get Real.

Although what follows is a reference to 'bloodshed', the fact that it is referred to as 'unfortunately' would suggest to me that it would be applied as a last resort, OR. should other attempts to find a just solution fail.

THAT is how I would probably have arrived at my decision to cast my vote, it is a matter of small consequence since the poll was 'Rigged' in any case, it must have been when you consider the fact that YOU are claiming victory.

Congratulations miltiades, (if that be what you seek) you have WON NOTHING.

Hi ELiko, I know you do not like interference into your debates, but I am sure the voters in the poll, voted for what GR was saying rather than your interpretation. Please tell me if I am wrong.

Respectfully

Denizaksulu, as far as the voting was concerned, I formed my own opinions and voted in favour of Get Real for a particular reason.

I agreed with his view that all the past negotiations should be committed to history since they had all failed.

I could see no point in trying to revive old issues in the hope that agreement might be reached.

I felt that miltiades would be more inclined to pursue those old policies which might well drag on for several more years.

Get Real's approach struck me as a more forceful one, I did not interpret his meaning to be 'WAR' at all costs, rather, that Military action would be an option should negotiations fail.

Whether or not other members concluded the same, I am unable to say, THAT was my view of the two options available.

Had Get Real clearly stated that he would immediately declare 'WAR' on Turkey, I would not have voted for either of the two since both would have appeared to me to be outside of that which I would personally like to see.

I really cannot understand the amount of controversy the poll has created, the outcome is of no consequence anyway.

Again, these are merely games we play.

If you would care to know what my own views are :- As a sceptic (as far as politics are concerned) I feel that the outcome of whatever talks are now in progress was decided years ago, a show will now be put on and the politicians will weave their usual webs of deceit and lies, convincing the people that they have achieved what is best for them (the people).

Actually, I think very little will change and Cyprus will end up as the 'Bargaining Chip' for Turkey's accession to the EU.

The country will in effect be divided and the settlers will be allowed to remain since they will become EU citizens.

Turkey will be allowed to maintain some Military bases , everyone will be happy and nothing has changed.

Then we can all get on with the re-building and re-establishment of what will effectively be 'The New Cyprus' (forget the old).

Those are my views denizaksulu, I may receive some flak but I have seen too much political chicanery in my life to believe otherwise.

Best Wishes to you and your family. Eliko.

Thank you Eliko for your 'explanation'. Sadly you have turned politician. I feel that my question has remained unanswered. I bid you a goodnight with fishnets full of honey.
