Nope, no Wellington boots are needed despite all the rainfall we receive, due to good drainage systems, there are hardly any puddles around, unless of course the whole town is flooded from rivers cresting their banks once in a while..!!

Switzerlands secret weapon against Turkey: Rain and flooded pitch. Ineffective strategy which failed.

I’ll bet Cyprus could beat Germany in a drenched pitch like that… we are more use to wading through soggy, muddy, pig sties than the Germans.

Seriously people, how can a team’s strategy be put into effect under such extreme weather conditions? Strategies go out the window that’s what, and I’m sure Turkey’s win against Switzerland had everything to do with the unpredictable “luck” of chaos than skill.

The responsible bodies should get their act together and start organizing tournaments in sunny, happy, positive atmospheres that attract larger crowds and protect multi-million dollar players and crew from pneumonia!

Before any of these TC knuckleheads start calling me names for not supporting Turkey, is because Turkey is not my country for one, and secondly, if they are going to condemn me, they better also condemn the TWO Swiss Turks, Murat and Hakan YAKIN (brothers) who will be playing tonight against their "Motherland".!!

Also lets not forget that Swiss knocked Turkey out of the 2006 World Cup qualifiying round on away goal difference in Istanbul 3 years ago, and what followed was the despicable sour losers attitude by the Turks in the tunnel leading off the field. There might be some revenge play tonight, by both sides. It should be a very interesting game. If Turkey plays as bad as they played their first game, then the rest of their time in Switzerland will count as being "just tourists".!!

i doubt wheter anyone gives a crap who you support, you dont need to justify anything
murat wont be playing for this he retired some time ago.however as weel as hakan there will be two others playing for the swiss from the motherland as you call it.
as someone else said turkey did not not play to badly agaist portugal.i dont think you are a regular follower of football kikapu or any form of expert on the sport.perhaps you will tell me you are an ex pro and played 25 times for brazil.

Kentish,

That's what I thought too, but then you come along and want to talk about it, so thank you for your interest.

You are correct. Murat was just mentioned in the press, that he may play because of injured Frei. Of the other two Turks in the Swiss side, one may be a Kurd and not necessarily see Turkey as his "Motherland" for obvious reasons.

Turkey played lousy in their opening game, along with some diving and play acting. However, they played great last night as did the Swiss. There was one incident where what appeared to be Turkish player hitting the ball with his hands and not with his head when the Swiss keeper pushed the ball against the post. Since the ref did not see it, it would have counted as a goal if it went into the net, but aside from that one play, I think the Turks played an honest game. The game deserved a draw.

I follow football only during certain competitions, World Cup and European Cup and then only watch select teams and matches. Pay very little attention to league matches. There's just too much football on TV, so I'm very selective. Football is not the only thing that interests me and definitely not the moronic types who believe that football is all they care and talk about while getting pissed every time on guzzling beer. I have a feeling you fall into this group of "experts" on sports. I have interest in variety of sports from Formula 1, American Football, Baseball, Sailing, Golf, Snooker, Darts, Winter & Summer Olympics.

perhaps you will tell me you are an ex pro and played 25 times for brazil

Now you are being totally ridiculous. I don't even know where brazil is.

Oh, Oh, perhaps you meant to say Brazil.

Still NO.!!

i thought you were very anti people making assumptions and now you picture me as a beer guzzling sport obsessed drunk, pot kettle etc, dear oh dear, and whats funny about typing in lower case,

I fear that in the end we’re not really going to get the best football team/country in Europe lifting the trophy but the one who missed the most paddles to get the ball rolling past the goal line! What a shitty tournament…

No Kentish, I said "I have a feeling you fall into this group of 'experts' on sports", since you were very quick to dismiss others knowledge by declaring them as being "non experts".!!

You have obviously missed the sarcasm in my post.

One should never write the name of a country's first letter with a "lower case".
