Ok dear friend here it is for you very interesting article by Resat Akar.
Everyone knows that politics and military are not the only obstacles blocking the solution problems between Turkey and Greece .(TC's,GC's)
inter-cultural conflicts are discussed at almost every meeting.
Good sample was at Spain (22-24 May ) 2 days conferance (Barcelona)
A French jounalist gave the following example of Turkish/Greek rivalry and disagreement from many years of exprience in field.
The Greeks still call the city Constaninople which the whole world has come to know and accept as İstanbul.Their insistance on this negatively affects the dialogue between 2 countries.
Than a professor from Lebanon volunteered the following example İ was recently in Larnaca and Limassol .When İ ordered Turkish coffee at the hotel where i was staying the waiter told me he could only bring me Greek Coffee.İ found this reaction utterly perplexing .İ have knowing this drink as Turkish Coffee since İ was born.
After Lebanese professor was a Syrian who claimed that in the past Turkey had changed the names of some cities but he added that since the crossing points had oppened up in Cyprus and relations between 2 communities had begun to improve .You can ask for Turkish Coffee or Greek Cypriot Coffee shops he added.
The chairman interrupted saying We have here with us the editor -in Chief of the Cypriot Newspaper ,Cyprus Dialogue ,Resat Akar.we could lern about the latest developments on the island from him .
I first gave 2 examples of the Istanbul/Constaninole debate.
1.The GC press never uses the name Istanbul. They still write about Constantiople .more importantly this is the name they teach children at scools. Of course this must fan the flames of caltural conflict between the 2 communities.
2.Last year Istanbul Symphony Orchestra had visited Athens.During their trip they wore badges on their jackets on which was written in Greek orchestra Constantinopolis The orchestra regretted ever having gone to Athens.
Then I gave an example from Cyprus I told them how the GC leadership had changed the English name of capital Nicosia to Lefkosia and Kyrania to Gerinya after 1974 and I did not forget to mention how the TC leadrship changed the name Magusa or famagusta to gazimagusa.
I also corrected my Syrian Professor friend his claim that you could order Turksh Coffee at GC coffee shops:
People continue to cross but the cultural clash is still there .GC waiters get angry when customers order Turkish Coffee.İnstead you order Greek Cypriot coffee or Cypriot Coffee.
I will try next time to get Turkish Coffee with you Miltiades to see how true is above comments .
You can have Cypriot coffee and I can have .....

I beg your pardon I never had to survive against a Plonker like Eric Dayi , would you like to give us an example or two . Obviously you haven't as yet worked it it that one of my attributes is resilience , toughness , non - tolerance of idiots and the ability to rely on my own capabilities in handling bloody idiots like him and you .
As for you Mr I tried to befriend you because it is part of my character to make friends and not adversaries , you have chosen to be extremely rude towards me and I don't take kindly to insults from anyone. You owe me an apology for the disrespectful comments you have made against my self.
Let me tell you where I stand in this juncture of my life.
I'm a committed Cypriot , a family orientated person , old fashioned in insisting that respect is earned and not demanded and one who takes care of his family and friends.
Bananiot whom I met for the first time last Sunday for lunch in Limassol
had this to say about you , Marios , said to me , ine ena poli kalo pedi otan ton gnorisis , Yes Mr that is what he said about you so I want to offer you my hand right now and apologise to you for my comments against your person , are you man enough to do likewise ?
For someone who hasn’t done his national service, doesn’t pay taxes to the Republic, was not even in Cyprus in July 1974, has not had any of his property stolen by Turkey, is not a refugee, doesn’t even live in Cyprus, has hardly had an education, and has never contributed anything worthwhile to this forum, you sure got a nerve dictating what constitutes a "Cypriot"!

My sentiments don’t change Miltiades, so I’ll just reiterate what I’ve told you in the past with this little paragraph...For someone who hasn’t done his national service, doesn’t pay taxes to the Republic, was not even in Cyprus in July 1974, has not had any of his property stolen by Turkey, is not a refugee, doesn’t even live in Cyprus, has hardly had an education, and has never contributed anything worthwhile to this forum, you sure got a nerve dictating what constitutes a "Cypriot"!
…and I neither forget nor forgive.

You are what you are , you proved it once again.I offered you my hand and I apologised for unruly comments made against your person. I asked you if you were man enough to do the same. CLEARLY YOU ARE NOT , ONCE AN ARSEHOLE ALWAYS AN ARSEHOLE !!
Now piss off boy before I unleash on to you some of the Miltiades treatment which unlike the GR treatment that fires little boys blanks mine
