Septic tank

Postby Its a dogs life » Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:41 am

Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me which company to use for emptying my septic tank? Its in the Limassol area and I can only track down companies in Paphos.

Would appreciate your help - also any idea how much its likely to cost?

Thanks
:)

I used this Guy last year 99656225 i think he charged £30.

If you're all new, why do you need the tank emptied? mine hadn't been done for 20 years.

You only need it emptied when it's full.
In normal use bacteria in the tank break down the solid waste and the liquid waste spills over the outlet of the septic tank into an underground soakaway.
Save your money for the next few years.

WOW, THIS IS REALLY REAWAKENING THE DEAD....

Way back in 2008, Mountainman wrote about septic tanks:

This got me wondering.
If a septic tank uses bacteria to break down the waste, one should maybe be careful about what kind of cleaning agents one uses in the toilet bowl. Disinfectants, chlorine etc. would kill the bacteria and ruin the process.
Is this a correct way of thinking? If so, can anybody tell me what kind of cleaning agent is safe to use?

Or is it just a load of crap...?

I know I'm just begging for a lot of "funny" replies from the forum's resident comedians, but I would actually appreciate at least one serious answer. :P

I think your theory is sound and you should be careful about what you flush down...

However, having said that Mrs CyprusGrump is always putting bleach and stuff in the toilets and we haven't had an issue for the past six years... We have a dishwasher too....
