Eracles thank you for posting the video.

What a fine and impressive performance by President Christofias. Speaking off the top of his head (unlike GB who kept glancing at his notes  ) in what must be his second (third :? ) language.

He definitely referred to a single sovereignty.

I have every confidence he is smarter than all those he has to deal with and will not let the people of Cyprus down.

...... And he managed to finish his speech within the 9 minutes 29 seconds allocated on the youtube

I may be a bit cynical, but my take on the meeting left me wondering how one could condense all the fine words and friendly greetings, a glimpse of what is about to take place 'Behind the Screens' which is always of greater significance than that which is made visible (in politics).

Cyprus will become the 'Bargaining Chip' for Turkey's acceptance into the EU.

The country will be divided (T/C and G/C having equal rights) in the respective areas (to be determined) with freedom of movement as though no such division exists.

Military bases will be maintained and (possibly a Turkish base) others established.

On entry to the EU, ALL settlers will be entitled to stay put due to their EU status.

Ultimately, the people will be thronging the streets waving their banners and embracing each other, completely oblivious to the fact that nothing has really changed for the better, (probably got worse).

As to the settlement of property issues, the major investors will make profits, the smaller will suffer losses and the general public will find themselves (as is usual) in the shit.

Such is the business of politics, put on a show, scatter a few crumbs to the masses but divide the loaf among those who distribute the crumbs.

A Sovereignty right enough, with a 'Jack Boot' on it's neck.

Brilliant.

Did everyone notice the UK is committed to BBF with political equality. It appears that this ideology has now settled worldwide with the UN and now the UK backing this type of a solution.

I noticed Gordon Brown did not quite manage to say it clearly .... and political equality just means one-man one-vote ..... That's all you're getting VP, if you are man enough

We will see who gets the last laugh, the compromise will be TCs have veto rights on predetermined sensitive issues.

Sounded loud and clear to me maybe you just don't want to hear it that you block it out, its hereditary in GCs

I think Christofias did extremely well. One has to bear in mind that until recently he could hardly utter a word in English.

I also think that political equality does not mean a unitary state and one man-one-vote principle. It means that each constituent state will be solely responsible for the affairs of the component state. This has been agreed between Christofias and Talat aready and it is a huge step forward towards a solution.

Just remembered this one I heard on the BBC some months ago.

GB replaced TB who got a freebie from a BG

Anyone care to explain?
