irst, copyright does not necessarily lie with the author. I've published many pieces but the copyright belongs to, for example, the publisher.
Second, under UK and US law, an author may lay moral claim to their own words but that doesn't necessarily mean they have copyright. You are simply mistaken to believe that if you add 'copyright' at the end of your words that you have 'automatically retained the copyright'. And no, wrong again, the absence of a stated claim does NOT mean it falls under public domain. (Do you know what 'public domain' means in law ?) So nice try Get Real but 100% wrong.
In any case copyright is typically a civil matter. If the lawful copyright holder wished to take an action against an alleged copyright infringer then matters might proceed. But you and I have no legal standing in the case so we might identify a copyright infringement but there is nothing we can do about it. It's a civil matter.
Furthermore the 'illegality' or otherwise of TRNC has no bearing on the incidence of copyright infringement. Copyright or other so-called intellectual property crimes are massive in China, Indonesia, Russia, US, Brazil etc
Copyright laws in the UK and US are slightly different. In the UK, whoever comes up with the artistic idea (which could range from lyrics to a song, an article, an instruction manual, a logo, etc) automatically holds the Copyright, as it is their intellectual property. If someone wanted to challenge Copyright ownership or infringement, the person who came up with the IP must prove that they created it first. Hence why a lot of people who come up with IP send the piece of art back to themselves in the post so they have some sort of recorded date to prove their Copyright ownership.
As far as i know in the US, to own a Copyright, some kind of licensing fee must be paid for the IP holder to own the Copyright to their works.
You want to lern lots about this subject, look up the Sony Betamax case in the early 80's in America.
The really funny thing is, I bet Halil doesnt know what 'Copyright' means and the development of this thread has gone wayyyyy over his head.
Even funnier is that it was all so predicatable that this memorandum would piss off the Turkish nationalists like Halil.
"Oh NO! Maybe Cyprus WILL be unified and mamma Turkey will reap great shame!!! WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO!?!?...I know, lets complain and say its unfair!!!"
