about 4 years ago my sister- in- law and husband took our son on holiday to pafos, because of these timeshare people they said they would never go back. its not good for tourism and the goverment need to make laws stopping these people. i'm sure they did a few years back in spain.

I read this on another cyprus forum as well. Such a shame that my forthcoming holiday to pafos will be blighted by these parasites.

Last year we were in portugal and they stalked in packs near the main corner of the hotels.

If you ignore them you get called every name under the sun.

big advantage is that i'm 6ft 5, so i off to practice my evil, don't even come near me stare.... it usually works.

The problem is of course, rather like spam e-mail. It is the gullible idiots that actually go to their meetings and buy the time-shares that make it worth their while.

Haven't experienced any problems in Larnaca ~ perhaps they think we can't afford it

I must admit I haven't had any problems when ever I've visited Paphos from the timeshare touts but I have had problems with Eastern Europeans trying to sell me a fake Rolex or perfume ~ these guys just don't know when to give up and will follow you half way across paphos trying to make a sale.

As for the touts with their scratch card routine people must be pretty dim to fall for it and honestly they deserve everything they eventually get.

There is so much big money tied up in this scam that it will never be stopped even though the police do the occasional sweep and fine one or two

I admit it's unpleasant being pestered by these idiots BUT if everybody ignored them the business would go down ~ take away the profit and the problem goes away ~ sadly the problem is perpetuated by the idiots falling for the bull shit and buying the time shares.

we don't get this in the north. they would be arrested. the worst you would get is in kyrenia harbour where people try and get you to eat in their restaurant. the goverment made a law to stop them but the police don't seem to enforce it. word of advice avoid the harbour.

Honestly roseandchan do you really think the police would sort out the time share touts when they won't do anything about the guys in the restaurants ~ there's far to much money involved in the time share scam for any real action to be taken by the authorities.

And that applies to the north as well as the south.
