Unless you live in an urban area, the pigeons are very qood eating.

So shoot them and then remove the breasts. Cook them gently over charcoal or quick-fry and then into a "yachni" sauce (tomatos, onions, garlic, parsley, etc.).

Very gamey meat, but excellent.

Agreed, even better wrap in foil with butter and garlic, put in coals for 40 minutes.

At last a kindred spirit who doesn't get all sentimental about eating animals.

I for my sins love hunting. I shoot up near Lania in the season, I never turn down a pigeon.

Feral pigeons in Cyprus are full of desease, and their waste is definately a health hazard. Bird of prey decoys do not work, probably because the pigeons have never seen one. As for a Kestrel they do not hunt pigeons, so no perceived threat.
To increase power of a .177 air rifle, remove the spring and replace with a OX spring. Not available in Cyprus but freely available in the UK, this seems to be a done by most Cypriot air rifle owners. At present not banned in Cyprus.

Thanks! No wonder the pigeons are not scared of the kestrels then!

We did have a very cheeky pigeon visit us a couple of years ago ( before the parrot ) the front door was open and the cheeky thing walked in , had a good look round for a couple of mins and walked out again ~ obviously the accommodation wasn't up to the required standard for a discerning pigeon .

Bill ~~ parrot for hire ~ cheap weekly rates ~ ear plugs provided.

For the pigeons or us?

You never see any pigeons around Episkopi.

Wonder if that has anything to do with the Vultures up there?

I know, pity the Egyptian crows keep scaring them!
