If you place a stuffed bird of prey in a prominent position on your rooftop the pigeons will move on for good including all other birds unfortunately.

We have a pair of kestrels living beside us and even they do not scare the pigeons!

Getting a licence to import an air rifle is fairly straightforward. Buying in Cyprus is even easier, just hand over the money in a shop.
Feral pigeons in Cyprus are full of desease, and their waste is definately a health hazard. Bird of prey decoys do not work, probably because the pigeons have never seen one. As for a Kestrel they do not hunt pigeons, so no perceived threat.
To increase power of a .177 air rifle, remove the spring and replace with a OX spring. Not available in Cyprus but freely available in the UK, this seems to be a done by most Cypriot air rifle owners. At present not banned in Cyprus.

I did exactly that for a friend a couple of years ago and he seemed very pleased with the result .

From what I can make out there is no actual power restriction in Cyprus ~ air rifles requiring a FAC in the UK seem to be freely available here ~ mind you so are the illegal .22 :? .

For vermin control a .22 or .25 is the best for sheer stopping power .

A .22 at 20 to 30 lb ft would blow your pigeons off the roof

I agree with Purdey most of the town pigeons are diseased vermin .

Alright, here’s another idea. Find a village hunter who uses “verka” (those sticky sticks placed in trees that catch whatever sits on them), and ask him to make you a bowl of “mixi” (the sticky substance used on these sticks) and then spread it with a brush on the sections of your roof where the pigeons usually sit and you’ll be able to just pick them off it the next day or two.

Funilly enough Bill, the air rifles I see in Cyprus are all .22. I came across two Webley MK2 service air rifles last summer in the village. After a brief discussion with the owner who thought they were rubbish, I asked if he wanted to sell. My mistake, I forgot about a cooling off period before asking a price, he smiled and asked for £400 each.

I'm told that the bird of pray's outline must be visible from a distance for this to work and maybe you should make that a Golden Eagle...

I used to have problems with pigeons before I bought a parrot ~ for some unknown reason they don't come anywhere near us now ~ very strange .

We did have a very cheeky pigeon visit us a couple of years ago ( before the parrot ) the front door was open and the cheeky thing walked in , had a good look round for a couple of mins and walked out again ~ obviously the accommodation wasn't up to the required standard for a discerning pigeon .

Bill ~~ parrot for hire ~ cheap weekly rates ~ ear plugs provided.
