of course you need insurance . before they couldn't go . By the ROC they were counting as a trading car . by the complaning of the TC's side this is counted under the Green lines regulation now.

Sorry H, perhaps I'm being thick but I can do with a little more clarification if you have the time.

When I have taken my zed car from the free areas of the south to the north I have been compelled to take out additional insurance from a chap in a kiosk on the occupied side of the "border". What I am asking is - will hirers of z - cars travelling the other way (north to south) have to take out extra insurance from a southern chap sitting in a similar kiosk at the "border"?

bill...
Until now, commercial vehicles from north to south were not allowed to cross the checkpoints..With this new change the renal cars (not sure if this will apply to taxis) will be able to cross (providing they get their insurance from the ROC insurance companies at the crossing points)

Thanks H and Ice - so essentially it's the same situation, you have to take out the extra insurance whichever way you travel.

As a matter of fact, the first rental vehicle stealing incident has been from north to south last month.
There is a rental company based in Kyrenia renting only Mercedes vehicles.Last month one of their vehicles was rented by some people from the south and after swooping registeration plates it was driven across the checkpoint to the south...has not been heard of since.

So much for the “confidence building” of the opened roadblocks… after five years the only confidence that seems to be building is that of organized crime.

Unfortunately, the crooks on both sides cooperate with each other better than the honest people do.
