mosques

With the recent influx of immigrant Arab Muslims I wonder if we will see the building of more mosques in Cyprus.

Will the government allow it ~ will the EU insist they are built ~ I doubt if the Orthodox church will be pleased  .

Is Cyprus going the same way as the UK

Would you clarify what you mean there Bill please.
What way has the UK gone in your opinion?

In the UK mosques have been built with funding from the Muslim community, planning permission has been given in consultation with local authourity. I am not sure what the criteria is in Cyprus under EU regulations. Is it based on freedom of worship or immigrants with residency rights ?

Perhaps renovating a few deserted mosques in the South would be a good idea?

Most of them have been / are being renovated Tess ~ except for the more remote villages and even they have seen some improvement over the last few years ~ this is in stark contrast to what seems to be happening to the orthodox churches in the north .

There are certain things I'm not happy about in the south such as desecration of Turkish Cypriot graves but as the same happens to Greek Cypriot graves in the north I don't complain as it seems to be tit for tat even though it's unpleasant who ever is doing it .

It really depends on what area you lived in whilst in the UK Feisty to how you perceive a possible problem .

Until moving to London (before relocating to Cyprus) I lived in a village environment out in the country ~ it really opened my eyes in London and though visits to such places as Bradford, Leeds and Birmingham etc.

I'm sure you don't need me to elaborate any further .

Bill ~ who still has a cute little piggy bank and used to send Christmas cards to my work colleagues.

Still don't know what you're talking about Bill unless you are just being racist which is a bit rich when you are living in a foreign country.
I still live in the UK but live in the sort of area where 15/16 year old girls have spent lifetimes having 4 or 5 kids by different fathers, live in council houses and have no intention of ever getting a job.

It has obviously gone down hill mate !!
Too many foreigners scrounging of the state , here for all the benefits they can get , they hate our culture , they do not integrate and they are most certainly anti British !!
The incompetent politicians have failed miserably in promoting Britishness , shortly parts of Sharia law might become compulsory , as per the wanker Archbishop Funnyeyebrows !!!
The country is not what it once was .

Oh right I'm with you now.
You're talking about people like the English who have been going to live in foreign countries for years, who integrate with local communities, learn the local language etc etc.
You sound a lot like the aboriginees, eskimos and red indians must have sounded before their cultures were decimated.
