Contraceptives have always been free to everyone. Like someone said, you can't make people use them.

purdey wrote:Sounds good, but yet again the working families would have to foot the bill for the child care centres, in the shape of higher council tax.
Forgive me if I am wrong, but aren't contraceptives free to the unemployed and those on low income. I realise you cannot buy common sense but you don't need it when the workers pay your bills...On yer bike..(Tebbit)

Magnus, why not draft your ideas and present them to your local MP, perhaps a more in-depth discussion might produce results and spur some action in Government Departments.

If you have the time and the energy, you could follow up the progress and who knows, some good may emerge from your sound proposals.

If such suggestions DID evolve into a worthwhile attempt to eradicate the burden to society, be sure that YOU would not receive any credit for it, perhaps the satisfaction of knowing that it was sourced from you, might be reward enough.

Respect. Eliko.

So we feel sorry for them and pay them benefits. Somebody mentioned earlier about the now returning home Polish workers. They came to the UK with little or nothing, worked twelve hours in a field or hotel for £6.50 an hour. At the end of the week sent 60% home and still managed to live.
They wanted to work though, they enjoy it, and most of all if they want to live they have to work. In the UK it is far too easy, to many do gooders.

God no. Please don't think I am in any way condoning the benefits system.
On the contrary I think a big shake up is needed.
I have long since said that all these girls having babies should be made to take them all to a centre every day and some made to train as nursery nurses under supervision from professionals while the rest are made to go to work.

BTW Magnus talking of "drinks" ... what is your favourite tipple  (or pint thereof ....)

The only way to get it into their drinks would be to put it in alcopops and supermarket cider/lager

I'm strictly a 'cuppa char' man. It's a well-known fact that I make the best tea in the world :D

I'd love to but I'll probably be dead a hundred years by the time the local council get round to responding and giving me an appointment. They're too busy generating useless bits of paper and playing 'spider solitaire' to do any real work

Magnus, with your permission, I would like to forward your suggestion to a certain party in the UK who may well be interested in pursuing your proposals through the channels I mentioned.

You may have my assurance that emphasis will be placed on the fact that the idea was sourced on this forum and from your goodself.

The outcome will probably be the same as aforementioned of course.

I tell you what, tell them it's your idea and if it works out you can pay me a consultancy fee :D

Thinking about it, I'd better post something about mosques or I'll have driven it all off-topic.

Erm... Mosques... they're domed...

Magnus, don't worry about going off topic, as soon as the subject of anything Islamic comes under the spotlight, you may be sure that the subject of 'Social Security Scroungers' will take flight.

Perhaps more is known about 'Dole Queues' than 'Deities' in that unfortunate land once known as 'Great Britain'.

More is the pity.

There is plenty of knowledge of Deities in the UK Eliko, we are after all a multi cultural society. Unfortunately discussion is limited outside of family circles for fear of offending.

Then more is the pity purdey, if more practise was put into the observance of the tenets of those 'Deities', perhaps there would be less violence and drunkenness on the streets of once 'Great Britain'

(I am sure YOU have no need to reproach yourself on such issues).
