Yes, mosques.
I don't see a problem with having mosques built. They are often very beautiful buildings.
Then again, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

The determining factor on decisions to build will be the tolerance of the @building Planning' offices tolerance : Would he prefer the sound of church bells or the call to prayer of the Muezzin. :? :?

it does. our mosque in our village is great, when he calls/sings he has a lovely voice. we have always been made welcome, islam is not how it is portrayed in the press and on tv.

I'm glad you've blended in so well with Islam because soon you'll be flying out to Turkey for good...

You are lucky that your mosque is built in a Turkish Cypriot villagw. We are (I think) talking of rebuiding/or repairing if not new built Mosques in the RoC. I would love to be there when the local Papa will object to a muslim call to prayer. You must remember that most if not all of these mosques that exist (at least their foundations)were built when Cyprus was an Ottoman posession. The Ottomans with their liberalism attitude had encouraged the building of Greek Cyp churches. I would like the GCs now show the same towards the creation of newmosques. (in residential areas).

I think in this day and age it would be highly retrogressive and undesirable to build a Mosque.

A place of sanctity for spiritual healing which can be used by all is far more attractive.

I think that's a very good idea Oracle but I think in actuality that no one would use it.
