Somehow, this ridiculous example seems to 'Ring a Bell' when compared to the issues in Iraq and elsewhere.

i think this thread is a little racist as would it not be more correct to use the word coloured rather than black?

You may well be right.
Black is a colour, white is a colour, pink and brown are both colours.
At the end of the day we are all human beings (some to a more or lesser extent) so yes Rose you are right.

but it is incorrect to call people black . my friend is a teacher in the uk, from about 1990 they were told you can't refer to people as black. like you can still have a black board,an object, but people are coloured not black

Yes I've agreed with you.
If you cannot call a person black it naturally follows that you cannot call one white, not that many people are either.
I have seen very black people in my life but have to say the only truely white ones have been dead and even they couldn't be described as white.

We are all coloured.

roseandchan, where have YOU been these last ten years or so ?, 'Black' people have a distinct aversion to being referred to as 'Coloured' and I believe it stems from the days of racial segregation practised in many nations.

Did I say ten years ?, it may even be thirty, I do wonder if there are any 'Black' members who can throw some light on the situation, any I know are quite proud of themslves (and rightly so) in my opinion, they possess a dignity which puts the 'White' man to shame (in many instances).
