Slightly late post but well done Russia! I must admit that at the start of the game I was more with Holland, but as it progressed it became pretty clear that Russia deserved to win..

And well done Spain, admittedly not the most exciting game, but I don't think that'll be the case at the Russia v Spain semi, or at least I hope it won't...

It looks like that may well be the case Raymanoff... :)

I reckon both Turkey and Russia could go down the 'Greece route' this year...

Yes bloody boring match, Italians are known for playing like that. I couldn't take it any more & when the penalty's came up, I went to my garage & put new tyres on wife's mountain bike! She came a gave me the all clear when the pens were over!

Prior to Turkeys matches, the media were completely unbelievable. They all assumed that it was the Czechs and the Croatians who would be going through to the quarter finals and semi's. No mention at all of Turkeys chances whatsoever (in the media I followed at least) in later matches.

Now its a different ball game with all the best players unavailable, can Turkey expect a miracle? I did not rate Germany much in the lead up to the championship but they are in the semi's. If Tuncay and Nihat were still available, Turkey could give Germany a very good game, even winning in 90 minutes. But alas! Turkey has done well so far. Still, I would not bet on Turkey losing.

As far as I can remember that's what happened four years ago with Greece. Even when they reached the final no body thought that they could actually go on to win..I honestly don't know what you have to do to prove you can go all the way!

The only time I've seen Germany play was the Quarter finals, and they played well, but I think turkey has that extra determination that may see them through. Although as you say, missing so many of their good players could be detrimental for them. Russia’s also a team that posses a lot of determination and passion, in fact both teams haven’t allowed their confidence to waver when they’ve been behind...
