Ayia Napa - what do you think of it?

Brits and Paphos have been slated but what about Ayia Napa.

I think the place is the pits. Once it was really nice but not now!

Once it was really nice...

95-98, amazing times... square, harbor, beach parties etc...
Cyprus really got screwed up... everyone is too greedy.

Took my daughter two years ago in the morning. First visit for 20 years, big difference, the square was full of broken bottles and vomit from the night before. Loved it, will not go again !!

I love it.
Could sit in the harbor watching the world go by for ever.

I have witnessed the most disgraceful scenes there in several visits in recent years. Barely clad young girls and their boyfriends for the night drinking and vomiting in public. Too many of there were Cys whose parents should know better than allow them to go to this Sodam and Gommorah.

Yeah I agree. It is a shame too I think. Napa has some lovely beaches. The place (take out the drunks) isn't too bad but I wont go there in the summer no way. I was there in January and was amazed by the number of German OAP's.

Can Napa ever be rescued?

I remember years and years ago, as others have posted above, sitting in the cafes by the harbour in the middle of summer and enjoying a beer ( insofar as I can enjoy lager).

My worst personal experience has to be last summer when strolling along one of the thoroughfares there in early evening and passing a few "clubs" where ladies of dubious virtue tried to entice me in! I didn't know where to look - Mrs C. and the rest of the family were a few steps behind me! The authorities could easily act to stop this particular form of solicitation.

Yes I agree Bill.

I was once in Limassol and stopped off for a late beer whilst working home from a night out. The place was busy, kids and families etc. It was about 3am too.

Anyway, I was chatting to this one girl at the bar all very polite and plain chit chat and then I got a tap on a shoulder from some guy. The guy was her pimp and wanted money from me because I was talking to one of his girls. I was very confused and managed to talk to the barmaid to tell her I was totally unaware the prostitution was going on. She managed to convince the pimp and all was well in the end. It wasn't a gentlemens club either but a place where traditional Greek dancing took place.

Gentlemans club are all over Paphos, Napa and Limassol!

OK fair enough F. and we're all men (ok and women) of the world, but this is going on in places and at times when families and children are likely to be around.
