Business in Cyprus

Postby robant » Fri May 30, 2008 2:59 pm

Hi all,
i would like to move from Italy to Cyprus in order to start-up a business.
I have some ideas about the new business. Which kind of business is better to start-up in Cyprus about your opinion?
I have considered something related to Italian Food....I would like to open an Italian PAsta (only pasta & espreso coffee)..or an handmade icecream shop...
I Thank you in advance for any suggestion....even if not related to food!!!
Roberto.

Hi robant. If the food will be authentic Italian, then I believe you will do well. We have tried a few restaurants that were recommended by friends and the food was crap. There was one Chinese restaurant in Larnaca that we went too and all the dishes were made of Gravox. We then proceeded to ask if the cook was Asian and we were told one of the best. As my husband was passing the kitchen from the loo. he saw a Cyptiot male reading from a cookbook!

So do you think a sort of Pasta and only Pasta + espresso coffee place would work?
I think something like fastfood for pasta.
Pick up your order at the board ang free seat in the open space....
How much would cost a rent for a shop like this in Paphos or Aya Napa?

That depends where Raym. All the good spots in Paphos close to the front have been taken, Tomb of the Kings is a dump and perhaps Coral Bay is too small I'm not sure. Some of the best restuarants I have experienced are slightly off the beaten track and in the villages.

Hi Z4. There are lots of food places in Cyprus, but how many can you say make good food. We have tried 8 chinese restaurants for example, and not 1 was authentic food. Before you say we are fussy, we are not. Some of the food some restaurants dish up is a joke, and the money some also charge is horrendous.
