Hi, how many restaurants are there and how many are good? Who knows and who knows!

Opening a restuarant, or a bar, is so old news in Cyprus. There are many nice places to eat. I know 'top' eating places which are dead during peak times (July and August)

In our areas we see so many open and close because most people do not know what they are doing. An example is a restaurant that was not doing so well. They closed it, re-decorated and had a brain strom to open up a Thai restaurant. There is now an ad in the local newspaper for a Thai chef. Go figure. There are a lot of things to be done is Cyprus. The right people have to do the right thing. It is not about the money. That is where alot of people make the mistake. They see some one making money and then copy that same thing so they can make the money for themselves. It is all about the service ang giving your 110% to the customer. When you build up a solid reputation then the money will follow

I hear what your saying and it's all correct. Building up a good reputation will take time, and plenty of it.

New businesses fail within their first year if things arent run properly.

I wish you luck Robant, you will need it.

In Nicosia the norm is that a new place opens up, becomes the in-place for 6-8 months, and then goes out of fashion.

In the tourist areas, from the ads I see in the papers and in various forums (fora?), they last a season and then are on the market due to the owner "retiring" or "ïll health".

If ypu have loads of money and are willing to keep your standards high, you could succeed.

JoJo wrote:Hi Z4. There are lots of food places in Cyprus, but how many can you say make good food. We have tried 8 chinese restaurants for example, and not 1 was authentic food. Before you say we are fussy, we are not. Some of the food some restaurants dish up is a joke, and the money some also charge is horrendous.

JoJo, are you comparing these restaurants to Chinese restaurants in England or China?

Chinese food:
Dog.
Bulls penis.
Chicken feet.
Sea slug.
Snake.
Just a few traditional Chinese starters. Sweet and Sour Pork is English.
