Illegal construction in occupied north tackled

Postby MicAtCyp » Tue Apr 26, 2005 8:31 pm

Nicosia, Apr 26 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government has been working very diligently in the recent past to tackle problems that arise from the continuing illegal construction boom in the Turkish occupied areas, Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has said.

He noted the matter has been brought to the attention of the European Union, adding that recently there has been an increase in illegal building.

''We have been dealing with this issue for some time now, applying legal, diplomatic and political means,'' Papadopoulos said.

He stressed that the construction boom is not a consequence of the rejection by the Greek Cypriots of a UN-proposed solution plan.

I think soon enough the EU has to blow some noses regarding this.Time for Talat to stop pretending and playing the smart guy....

If you want to have a say in what happens in the North of Cyprus you need to _agree_ a solution with us. However you want to continue to insist on maximal GC demands AND dictate what happens in the north in the mean time. Still seeking to impose GC will and control over all of Cyprus and all it's people then. Same old same old, though this time you hope the EU will help you. Good luck with this quest. We all will continue to suffer as we hav in the past whilst you persue these goals.

Greek side and the rest of the world cannot do anything to prevent construction boom in North Cyprus. And they will never achieve this, unless there will be a solution on the basis of BBF. Is this hard to digest?

that is obvious garbitsch.

the question is can the EU prevent EU citizens from building in the north (stolen properties)?

I'm not sure what the regulatoins are and also how much EU members such as UK consider them...

The EU can not make laws that regulate what EU citizens do in areas outside the EU aquis. Just as in the UK the UK courts can not prosecute someone in the UK for pheodphilla acts comitted in Thailand. Only Thialand courts can do that.

Agree a solution and you (and the EU) can have some say on what happens here - whoever does it (EU citizen or not). Refuse to agree a solution and you can not have a say. That is how it works. Keep hoping you can both fail to agree a settlement and have a say and cpontrol over what happens here and you simply continue to dream.

Will take ages for a result in the UK if it goes to court at all, in the mean time developers will continue to build, they have already found new markets not under EU law, always a wayout, individual legal cases will not solve anything, only way to stop development is a solution.

What can take 5 years to be build it needs 1 minute to be demolished with some well placed dynamite. In the long run, those that will loose are those that invested in something that will not last.

Now the crime is committed. Sooner or later the punishment will come for the criminals.

When will punishment come for the criminals that took my uncle from his place of work and murdered them, or the criminals that killed other TC, drove them from their homes and stole their land and posessions? Will their punishment come sooner or later?
