After extensive, exhaustive investigation I found this link (a few threads up from this one) http://www.greece.org/cyprus/Chronology.htm
Check the second entry:
"c.7500 BC The first known domesticated cat in the world is buried at the Neolithic village of Shillourokambos in Cyprus 4000 years before similar burials are known in Egypt."

This proves that cats were burying their relatives in olden days. Therefore cats were the first settlers on the island, therefore a true Cypriot is...a Cat!!
Job done, no need for Columbo or CSI here people :D

:D i agree

No, no no. It's a well known myth that I am trying to spread further that the first and only true Cy is the Donkey and that all Cyps have a little bit of donkey gene.

According to RR Denktash too the only Cypriots are the donkeys of Cyprus... but we know how much he can screw things up don't we???

I like this definition of home, "The place where if you knock on the door, they have to take you in..." :)

On a more serious note, for me a Cypriot is someone who considers Cyprus his/her real or spiritual home, has empathy and compassion for all other Cypriots regardless of their ethnic background, and whose allegiances are first and foremost with Cyprus and her people,in all their diversity... 8)

Well done BirKibrisli, that seems to make sense, although I am sure someone will attack you for it (and me for agreeing with you!).

However I did like the idea of all the Cyprus pussies, even if they are so many thousands of years old!
