So when will they and their ilk have a coup to bring Papa Dop back?

You're confusing the Government of Cyprus with the military of Turkey. how many governments in the past 50 years has the Turkish millitary overthrown?

1960
1971
1980
1997

When will the people of Cyprus realize that our ethnicity is much older than that of Turkey and Greece. The Cypriot ethnicity covers each and every one of us , the G/Cs T/Cs Armenians and others.
We are far more advanced in every social and cultural field than either of these two nations. I can not for the life of me see what possible benefits the T/Cs would derive as part of Turkey or indeed the G/Cs as part of Greece.
We are proud Cypriots , from the land known internationally as Sweet Sunny Cyprus !!!!
Pissing down here at the moment , windy and grey cant wait to spend a few days in Limassol.

In the first round that you are referring to, two thirds of people voted against Christofias and two thirds of people voted against Kasoulides.

The 76% of people voted against the Annan plan.

The 99% of people voted against the return of anything like the Annan plan. (the only one who supported a solution based on the Annan plan during last elections was Themistocleous, who received less than 1% of the votes, less than Outopos)

I am clearly not in the minority my friend. You are.

Christofias is "Bananiots man"??

No. Bananiot simply started to align himself with Christofias less than a year ago. Chrisofias (at least publicly) has never aligned himself with the extremists of the kind of Bananiot. My criticism to Christofias now is nothing compared to the shit that Bananiot has thrown against Christofias in the past.

Some of the things Bananiot said against Christofias:

In my opinion, Papadopoulos and Christofias have destroyed Cyprus with their inexplicable call to the people to vote "NO" in the referendum of April 24.

It is hard at the moment for people with a rational mind to surface due to the divisive and arrogant approach of Papadopoulos and Christofias who so easily brand anyone with a different point of view a traitor.

Papadopoulos is in the corner (along with his Stalinist partner Christofias) and at long last I, a confirmed pessimist, see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Have you read Talat's interview in an Athens's daily (or was it weekly?). He said Christofias is a liar and Papadopoulos a fanatic. I think he is spot on.

Christofias came back from his long holidays from down under (all paid by the taxpayers) and attacked Anastasiades for undermining Papadopoulos with his critisism. If he had his own way he would be soon sending him to Siberia.

The one and only thing I criticized Christofias about is that I have doubts about how honest he is in the promises he gave to the Cypriot people in order to be elected. The promises are there recorded and signed by him, and if he doesn't do as he promised then he will be judged accordingly by the Cypriot people.

One could say that Bananiots men are Talat and Erdogan. Search all you like in the forum and you will never see anything negative said about them by Bananiot.

Former Greek Cypriot leader slams his successor

Former Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos considered the statement, issued by Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders following their meeting on Friday, as a negative development for Greek side, Turkey's CNNTurk quoted Greek newspapers.

The Greek Cypriot side has taken one step back, former Greek Cypriot leader said.

Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat and his Greek counterpart Demetris Christofias met in the U.N. Buffer Zone to review progress in the preparations for the revival of peace talks, which have been stalled since 2004.

The leaders held "genuine and fruitful discussions" and reviewed the results achieved pursuant to the March 21 agreement, the leaders said in a joint statement issued after the meeting.

Papadopoulos said Christofias for the first time, in the name of Greek Cypriots, accepted to discuss the military measurements in an official statement with Turkish Cypriot society, instead of Turkish army.

"This is bad and disagreeable for our side," Papadopoulos said.

Talat and Christofias reaffirmed, in the statement, their commitment to a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality, as defined by relevant Security Council resolutions.

"This partnership will have a Federal Government with a single international personality, as well as a Turkish Cypriot Constituent State and a Greek Cypriot Constituent State, which will be of equal status," the statement said.

"A federation government will be formed as a result of this partnership. The partnership is between governments and states. There is a big difference and therefore there is no satisfactory ground for the start of the negotiations," he added.

Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias replied predecessor saying "The partnership exists since 1960, though some people don't want to accept it," and he added such attitudes have damaged his country too much, Turkey's CNNTurk reported on Sunday.

Christofias also said he has seen Friday's meeting as a positive step.
