UBP LEADER SAYS SOLUTION CAN ONLY BE POSSIBLE BETWEEN TWO SOVEREIGN STATES
İs it last chance of the Talat and Chrisofias ?
The leader of the main opposition National Unity Party Tahsin Ertugruloglu has said that the a solution to the Cyprus Problem can only be found on the basis of the political equality of two sovereign states.
Evaluating the latest developments on the Cyprus Problem, the leader of the main opposition party said that the Turkish Cypriot Side was experiencing weaknesses in the process tried to be launched with the Greek Cypriot Side.
He said that it will not be possible for the Turkish Cypriot Side to achieve any political gains at the negotiating table if this continues.
Pointing out that acting on the basis of personal interest and unproductive contests will harm national interests, the UBP leader said that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus belonged to everyone and that the Turkish Cypriot State to be formed should not be approved.
Referring to Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer’s statements on ‘the political equality of two founding states’ during his evaluation of Friday’s meeting between the two leaders, Ertugruloglu said that a political settlement on the island could only reached between two politically equal and sovereign states.
The UBP leader also reminded that the principle of political equality was engraved in the founding treaty of the 1960 Cyprus Republic.
