Driving standards in Cyprus, are they getting better?

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Come on kafenes, the driving standard here is something that definitely needs improvement.

The coppers need to nick drivers all the time for undue car and attention while they are on their phones, doing their make-up(!!!), eating their breakfast, drinking their coffee or looking at there passengers while talking to them.

At the moment all the cops do is target particular offences for a short period at a time.

All those who think your driving is terrible, jus come to Barcelona and see what happens

I don't think so - I've always found the bad driving standards in Cyprus, if not vastly exaggerated, at least not compared accurately with those here in the UK. I don't have accident stats to compare but driving around in London isn't all that different from Cyprus imo....

I never said the driving standards in Cyprus don't need improvement. As a matter of fact I believe it to be atrocious. For the time being this is the Cypriot way and that's that. Take it or lump it.

I know it is the Cyprus way and I am aware that MY driving is worse here than in the UK.

I do lump it, but we could still do something about it. Perhaps we should all have followed your philosophy of do nothing and stayed with our donkeys, that would have been much safer!

My driving is shoddy in CY and UK!

However, I do tend to pay alot more attention when driving in CY. Old men in pickups doing about 20 miles mph then suddenly turning left without no prior notice - you just love it!!!

I have noticed a few more police with speed guns on the A6 last time I was over too

I have no problem with the driving in Cyprus, I have been shunted three times now at roundabouts, it is always a friendly experience. My last shunt in July ended up with a free dinner at the Famagusta Yacht Club.
All very civilised.
