The Turkish Cypriot education system of MISINFORMATION!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Talk about brain washing !

Was it really a GC documentary ?... or can we place this little Gabira propaganda-revelation amongst the host of "misinformation" provided above.

You were well nurtured Gabira!.

Such an attitude on your part, does indicate a certain fairness when one considers it , it's merits fade when one wonders if the same rules would apply in a face to face confrontation.

Not a criticism miltiades, just an observation which does surprise me a little, other than the abuse, 'Spot On'.

Eliko , to call someone that sat on dogs mess as smelly is not abusive but informative.
I do not tolerate stupidity anymore than I tolerate absurd suppositions and weird analogies. This Gabira Plonker is full of hatred for the Cypriot people , she is a nutter and has to be dealt with accordingly. There is no point in beating about the bush , I think you have on many occasions received the privilege of being corrected , albeit a waste of time , but nevertheless it made you realize that there are people like me on this forum who frankly my dear are not inclined to remain silent when absurdities and stupidity are encountered.
Gabira , along with a number of other hate merchants have to be challenged in the language that they understand better.
ps.
On the whole I have been extremely restrained in dealing and responding to some of your anti West twaddle , dont you think so !!

I suspect GR! is only presenting the tip of the iceberg 8)

Maybe the authorities should address all aspects of what is taught in these Schools for Scoundrels.

In "discussions" with Big Al and Eric Dayi a while back, it became apparent that they did not believe they as human beings were classified as Great Apes! And the ignorance did not stop there. Further down the line they revealed they were oblivious to the commonly accepted fact that humans are indeed also animals ...

This indoctrination that Turks are not animals, bestows them with the kudos to use the common phrase "animal" in a derogatory manner because, of course, they are exempt from this Kingdom (the little flowers  ).

The derogatory use of this phrase in dealing with GCs, is once again demonstrated for us by our in-house, volunteer guinea-pig Gabira...

I could not plow through the whole text of that site, but the part which deals with the psychological problems, the crisis of identity that nationalist education is causing to TC children is interesting. I would say they are now discoverint the things we came across 40 years ago. Getting out of the motherland's deadly embrace is not easy.

POSTs findings show that what was being taught and what is now being taught are different and I for one welcome the changes that are/have taken place.

They say :

Main Findings of the Project:
The comparative analysis illustrates that the new history textbooks mark a clear break from the approaches used in the old textbooks. The new books evaluate historical issues from a humanistic perspective. Moreover, there is no obvious indication of a national enemy, or the “other” in the new books. One of the most fundamental characteristics of the new textbooks is the emphasis on social history and its role in general history. By emphasizing social history, the idea of Cypriotness is promoted. The new books are strikingly different from the old textbooks, as they encourage students to employ critical thinking and analyse the subject matter from various viewpoints, (including the Greek Cypriot perspective).
The revised textbooks contain many visual images including photographs, drawings and caricatures. These visual images are used as an additional learning tool and help to further explain and highlight important points.
By and large, the text and the visual images contained in all three books, attempt to provide a balanced view of Cyprus and its people.

It would be interesting to compare the findings of POST with the work carried out by AKTI (who I believe carried out similar research on the GC education system). Their website only gives a summary so does not contain as much detail as provided by their TC counterparts (maybe GR can post their full findings for us to compare).

http://akti.org.cy/portal/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=42&Itemid=5.

AKTI says :
Collaboration with the Turkish Cypriot team responsible for studying the textbooks used in the final grade of Turkish Cypriot elementary school, has shown that Turkish Cypriot history education also presents major problems as according to the study, the Turkish Cypriot students are also educated to perceive an "us" which defies the "other" i.e. the Greeks. It would be useful to form an educational committee consisting of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot scholars, in order to investigate the possibility of writing a pilot book on the history of Cyprus , which will recognize the identity of each community while at the same time highlighting the coexistence of these two identities in the Cypriot space.

Note the use of the word 'also'

I'm a history teacher and I don't understand why some people are so cynical about this report. Aren't they just trying to correct lots of years of prejudiced history teaching. Better late than never.

Our gripe is not with this group which as you said is trying to correct many years of prejudiced history teaching but with the masterminds (Denktash/Turkey) of this diabolical WAR CRIME and human rights deprivation and the co-conspirators of this crime, such as all the Turkish Cypriot so-called “academics” who have done next to nothing to stop this and even participated in this mass brainwashing of misinformation.

On top of that, the RoC has to deal with literally THOUSANDS of such psychologically deranged “graduates” of this perverted and illegal system that went on for three decades, the likes of which we see appearing daily on this forum.

Even those that escaped the schooling system of the “TRNC” have been poisoned by the many distorted writings of Denktash and other sick Turkish and Turkish Cypriot 2-cent authors.
