However, I've got a serious question about property in the occupied area and I'm hoping that someone here could assist.
One of my colleagues in work has been looking into buying an apartment / villa at the new golf course development (Korineum in Esentepe???). He's over here for a couple of weeks and has been in discussion with the developers.
He's been informed that the land the development is on has freehold title and that it does not fall within the scope of contested ownership.
Having read the threads on here for a while, I feel that he may not have been told the entire truth. However, there is a hotel and various other developments going up in the area and he reckons that a lot of the property has been sold.
Does anybody have knowledge of this area or some advice (preferably helpful ...) as to where to point him to get truly independent advice?
Personally, I think he's nuts. But I'd rather give him some facts to back it up.
Thanks in advance.
JimB - Esentepe is still known as Agios Amvrosios by the 2,000 or so of its pre-74 inhabitants, all of whom were greek speaking, all of whom fled south in the first days of the Turkish invasion. Its population was 100% greek speaking. There is no land within the village boundary that has not been "stolen" so I would urge your friend to be very, very cautious.
If you want independent verification, the Kyrenia District Land Registry Office is still functioning.
