A patronising Greek Cypriot, who thinks I'm a foreigner ! :sniper:

We are both foreigners. Only Greeks can be classed as cypriot citizens.

WRONG.
Only Cypriots such as G/Cs T/Cs , Armenians , Maronites and others whose allegiance is to the Cypriot nation not to Turkey , Greece or any other foreign nation are Cypriots. You are stating quite unequivocally that your nation is Turkey , kindly depart the shores of this island and join your motherland , the same I would say to a G/C who showes total disrespect to the Independent , well partly independent since part of it is under foreign occupation , nation of Cyprus by flaunting the Greek flag !
When are you foreigners going to accept that this island has a history that predates that of Turkey and Greece by a few thousand years. I can not understand why you are still here and not over there amongst your own people the Turks and the Greeks.

We recognise that our Turkish compatriots are linked by similar ties of religion, culture and language to Turkey and the Turkish nation. These are facts of history which nothing will alter. But we are both also peoples of Cyprus, destined to co-exist in this small island which we hold in common as our native land. This imposes on both our peoples an obligation to live and let live. Neither of us can give free rein to our national aspirations, however natural and laudable they may be, without respect for the corresponding aspirations of the other. For us Greek Cypriots this has been a hard and painful lesson , and perhaps we have been too slow in learning it. Accordingly , on behalf of the Greek Cypriot people and with the full support of the Government of Greece we now solemnly renounce any aspiration to bring about the political union of Cyprus with Greece and we adhere to the aim of maintaining the independence of the Republic of Cyprus. We also declare our readiness to join with our Turkish Cypriot compatriots in establishing a new and mutually acceptable basis for the co-existance of the two peoples in Cyprus in a bi-zonal and bi-communal state, without recourse to oppression and where all Cypriots are regarded as equals and not of majority and minority and share power in the governance of our beautiful island.

Would such a statement be too hard for you Greek Cypriots to agree with ?

Muzzy, let me change your declaration a bit, and see if you will agree with it!

“The Turkish Cypriot community is and always will be a part of that spiritual unity of Turkism. We recognize that our Greek Cypriot compatriots are linked by similar ties of religion, culture and language with the rest of Hellenism. These are facts of history which nothing will alter. But both communities we are also part of the people of Cyprus, destined to co-exist in this small island which we hold in common as our native land. This imposes on both our communities an obligation to live and let live. Neither of us can give free rein to our national aspirations, however natural and laudable they may sound to us, without respect for the corresponding aspirations of the other. For us Turkish Cypriots this has been a hard and painful lesson, and perhaps we have been too slow in learning it. Accordingly, on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community and regardless of the position(s) of the Government or any other power centers of Turkey, we now solemnly renounce any aspiration to bring about the political or otherwise subjugation of the whole or any part of Cyprus to Turkey, and we adhere to the aim of maintaining the independence of the Republic of Cyprus. We also declare our readiness to join with our Greek Cypriot compatriots in re-establishing a mutually acceptable basis for the co-existence of the two Communities in Cyprus, in a bi-zonal and a bi-communal federative state, without recourse to blackmailing, oppression and profound or secret alliance with foreign countries against the interests and the wellbeing of the people of Cyprus as a whole, and where all Cypriots are regarded as equals to each other in all ways and aspects and in all parts of Cyprus; and where the two communities as politically equals –as it is defined by the UN resolutions on Cyprus, will be sharing power in the governance of our beautiful island.”

Would you agree and sign the above declaration?

At last, a Greek Cypriot with sense and realism. We can do business together Kifeas. Welcome to the negotiating table ! :D

Do I take it that you agree and would be willing to sign the above passage? Who else does, from the TCs?
