How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Without the RoC blessing I am afraid you are staying put...

In order to fullfill your aspirations what exactly are you bringing to the negotiating table?

Hi Boomerang, get that shrimp ready for the barbie ! The R o C blessing is a non-starter and it's this kind of nonsense that's preventing genuine progress. Whether you like it or not the Turkish Cypriot community voted for the re-unification of Cyprus in 2004 but is now on the edge, sick of being handcuffed by your 'legal' status. With each day that passes we fall deeper into the bosom of Turkey. I do not want this, I want re-unification where as a community you accept us as being Cypriot and thus equal, as enshrined by the London - Zurich Accords. Do you not accept this ? Are we not your co-partners ? The next best outcome of course is that we divorce for ever.

PS: I'd like some kadayif as well please !

Obviously you are starting to worry and wish you had never set foot in the "trnc" ... so why don't you spend some time sorting out your "own house" ( ) .... before worrying about Turkey, huh?

What have I got to worry about Oracle ? My community lives in peace and security, free from the threat of Greek Cypriot oppression. Progress can be made without recognition but recognition will occur without progress.

Neither of us can give free rein to our national aspirations, however natural and laudable they may be, without respect for the corresponding aspirations of the other. For us Greek Cypriots this has been a hard and painful lesson , and perhaps we have been too slow in learning it. Accordingly , on behalf of the Greek Cypriot people and with the full support of the Government of Greece we now solemnly renounce any aspiration to bring about the political union of Cyprus with Greece and we adhere to the aim of maintaining the independence of the Republic of Cyprus. We also declare our readiness to join with our Turkish Cypriot compatriots in establishing a new and mutually acceptable basis for the co-existance of the two peoples in Cyprus in a bi-zonal and bi-communal state, without recourse to oppression and where all Cypriots are regarded as equals and not of majority and minority and share power in the governance of our beautiful island.

Would such a statement be too hard for you Greek Cypriots to agree with ?

I don't think that is proper for a Turkish national to ask the Cypriot people for their opinion on any matter.
You refer to Cyprus as OUR beautiful island , but it isn't yours mate it belongs to all CYPRIOTS , the G/Cs the T/Cs Armenians Maronites and others but most certainly not to either Turks or Greeks.

I was addressing that to roseandchan ...

But since you mention it, what is this progress you can have in the world / civilisation if you go unrecognised, in a vacuum ... otherwise why strive for recognition if it did not serve a purpose?

And you will never be recognised unless you make some progress by reversing the illegal occupation of my country.

Muzzy, let me change your declaration a bit, and see if you will agree with it!

“The Turkish Cypriot community is and always will be a part of that spiritual unity of Turkism. We recognize that our Greek Cypriot compatriots are linked by similar ties of religion, culture and language with the rest of Hellenism. These are facts of history which nothing will alter. But both communities we are also part of the people of Cyprus, destined to co-exist in this small island which we hold in common as our native land. This imposes on both our communities an obligation to live and let live. Neither of us can give free rein to our national aspirations, however natural and laudable they may sound to us, without respect for the corresponding aspirations of the other. For us Turkish Cypriots this has been a hard and painful lesson, and perhaps we have been too slow in learning it. Accordingly, on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot community and regardless of the position(s) of the Government or any other power centers of Turkey, we now solemnly renounce any aspiration to bring about the political or otherwise subjugation of the whole or any part of Cyprus to Turkey, and we adhere to the aim of maintaining the independence of the Republic of Cyprus. We also declare our readiness to join with our Greek Cypriot compatriots in re-establishing a mutually acceptable basis for the co-existence of the two Communities in Cyprus, in a bi-zonal and a bi-communal federative state, without recourse to blackmailing, oppression and profound or secret alliance with foreign countries against the interests and the wellbeing of the people of Cyprus as a whole, and where all Cypriots are regarded as equals to each other in all ways and aspects and in all parts of Cyprus; and where the two communities as politically equals –as it is defined by the UN resolutions on Cyprus, will be sharing power in the governance of our beautiful island.”

Would you agree and sign the above declaration?

No he would NOT dear Kifeas!!! What he would sign is the following......... The RoC agrees to recognise the TRNC. We will rule over the 38% of lands stolen from you and we will also claim what belongs to us in the south of Cyprus. We as minority will not accept any democratic ellections (one man...one vote) if it is not in our interest.
If you do not agree with all of the above we will threaten you and we may occupy the rest of your country too :D:D:D:D:D
