This Fanos chap, is he the same person my family and I met last year - we called him the 'only Greek in the Village'. We had problems hiring a car and he offered to hire one for us. It wasn't needed, but he came with us around the whole of TRNC, showing us places of interest and showing us where his old home was in Famagusta. He took us to the Karpas and we visited his aunt. We stayed over for the night (albiet in a hotel), but he stayed with his aunt. He was a news reader and took us to the TV station where my son had the privilege of watching him present the news - in Greek - but wearing a smart shirt and tie, but wearing shorts! Only filmed from the waist up! In his spare time (he worked at the University near Famagusta which was closed whilst we were there due to summer holidays). All I can say is he is a lovely man, he has never asked to borrow money from us and spent so much time with us telling us the history of Cyprus (from both perspectives). Although we never paid him money, we did treat him to the odd meal with us, which considering he was driving meant that we could have a glass or two of wine and was far cheaper than getting a cab! Great company and a true gentleman. I just don't understand, if he has done these terrible things, why do you not sort things out in a civilised manner and confront him, rather than hanging out your dirty linen in public with other like minded people! Surely people that lend money to people do not do so unless they know the person and that they can pay them back, who pays money to a charity via a third person, unless of course they are carrying a charity pot - I don't even do that because I know that a percentage goes to the organisers rather than the charity itself! As I have said, I feel it very sad that all these forums end up in such squabbles. You post something about "best place to find dog food" and end up with some poor sod getting it. Please we are all adults here, we should deal with our own actions and problems without getting support from outside sources first. Unless there are other motives. Hiding behind email addresses does nothing - I could be Fanos, but I am not, if you would like to email me direct I will give you my telephone number and be happy to talk to you. Sorry I've gone on a bit . . . .
