Talking about repania it reminded me of pickled cucumbers " Aggourka xithada " commonly used in Paphos to refute some statement or event.
Similar to the above is another commonly used phrase " Ate re me mas zalizis tarchithia "

Yes, it's definitely a radish, but what's the English word for 'Kouloumpra'?

They are called Kohlrabi. They are considered to be a sort of cabbage/turnip.

Ah, so that's what they are. I prefer the name Kouloumpra to Kohlrabi though. According to the BBC good food guide, they 'look something like a Sputnik in vegetable form, with a squat bulb and antennae-like shoots'
