IT DOESN'T MENTION THE GREEK AIM OF ENOSIS. IT SAYS GREEKS WANTED TO PRESERVE THE UNITY OF THE STATE!

Which part of it is true in your opinion? Do you think the only thing it fails to mention is the dreadful actions of EOKA B? Were there no dreadful actions of EOKA? Of GC nationalists in the period 63 onwards?

Why? What would be the point of showing you such? Would it change the way you think about the Cyprus problem one iota?

In general, most GC media rarely refer to actions of TCs as being harmful or saying but things about the TC community. 99.99% of the accusations go to the Turkish government instead of the TCs.

I think the same applies to GC people in general.

Main_Source, go and find it out by yourself. I encountered with many Greek websites who were against Turks and Turkish Cypriots. ATCA is one website, it doesn't represent the majority view.

http://www.cyprus-mail.com/news/main.ph ... 8&cat_id=1

Logos TV station, which operates Mege, received a £2,000 fine for “inaccurate and biased reporting” for a story run on its main news bulletin on January 5, 2004. The report concerned a mugging at Nicosia’s municipal garden, with the station commenting that Turkish Cypriots were suspected of committing a similar crime at the same place.

I guess this is part of the 0.01% of reporting then?

erol,

im confused? is the article saying that certain networks get higher fines because of their portrayal of TCs in a good manner or are you just telling me that a certain network gave misinfomred information of TCs being suspects in a crime (and hence the network was fined)?

I'm assuming its the second case scenario. I unfortuantely, have never heard of this channel. I'm not sure if its mainstream or not but most of my Cypriot news come from online sources and PIK satellite.

Also, in the end maybe the network was indeed misinformed. Either way, the government gave them a well-deserving fine, which would show the lack of prejudice in this area (even though the article focues on selective bias)

Regardless, I was referring to Cypriot political and historical aspect of the media's portrayal.

Hope I understood what you meant.

Erol...and who fined Mege TV?....The broadcasting authority of Cyprus. You know very well, if the roles were reversed to the north...that television station would probably receive some kinda extra funding bonus from Turkey.

On the otherhand...if a reporter did an article that was anti-Turkey, they would just get murdered by the state.

main source i think you undermine the liberties of the Turkish Cypriots. if TCs were oppressed in their own corner then why would they bother staying there?

It seems to me main source that you are seeking to 'prove' TC are biased and GC / Greek hating - offering the one website as your 'evidence' of this. At the same time you also seem incable of accepting that there are GC / Greeks that are just as biased and anti TC / Turkey. Do you _really_ believe this?
