How can the UN ANAN Plan be a confederation? There is only ONE Central government that is administered by GCs and TCs(in the ratio given) and that exercise full control over both regions the GC region and the TC region. There is only one foreign policy and the united Cyprus Republic is represented internationally only by members of the Central government. So even though that GCs and TCs have their own administrative regions they are both represented internationally by the same Central government.

There will be freedom of movement , freedom of trade , freedom of business opportunities among both regions. No separation barrier like passports will even exist to allow the freedom of entry and exit to either regions or even customs which is the case of independent states. ONE Flag and ONE National Anthem to represent the whole island. How can these be interpreted as two independent states ?


The UN Anan plan is a federation model that had taken all the aggreements made from 1960 and onwards . But How can you expect anyones daily life to change If the UN Anan Plan is accepted. What is importnat to any citisen in any country is his private Life and well being.

The Fact that under the current UN Anan Plan GCs and TCs do not live togehter as before is to secure some of the Turkeys concerns regarding the security of Turkishcypriots given the Fact that Turksihcypriots had passed very hard times and bad experiances by the extremist in the decade of 1960. It is easy to say that there will be no bad activities like in 1960s but Who guarantees that? I know that there are Greekcypriots who still believe that Cyprus is a part of Greece. How can anyone be assured that these evil mindeds will not try again to do something against the peace on the island. So Turkey of course will logically have concerns in this matter.

Since security is very important for both TCs and GCs then higher bizonality will ensure this matter. If in the future both TCs and GCs have no concerns over the security aspect then they may jointly decide to make any amendments on the plan that they think are necessary.

The terms Federation or Confederation have no meaning to any citisen. I will repeat again what is important to any citisen is his private life and well being.

Switserland as far as I know it is functioning as a confederation and NOONE here in this forum can say that switserland is not a functional or even prosperous country!

Belgium It is functioning as a federation , and still Belgium is a functional and prosperous country.

Iran is neither a federation or a confederation ( please correct me If I am wrong ) and anyone can identify many weaknesses on its economy , peoplel freedom and well being etc .

So to conclude the terms Federation or confeferation have nop meaning at all
