G/CS STRANGLING T/CS MAY 19 2008 - ANOTHER GREEK ATTACK!!!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby BirKibrisli » Thu May 22, 2008 1:55 pm

Hooliganism, especially of the "football" kind can be found anywhere on this planet. If all they did was to bang on the car and throw a lit cigarette inside, they were behaving themselves by hooligan standards...

To use this as an excuse to peddle hatred against a whole community or nationality is unforgivable,Nil...Do yourself a favour, open up your mind to the possibility that the whole driving force, the meaning of life for GCs might not be hatred for the TCs...Perhaps they just want to find a just solution to a very complicated problem, and get on with their lives...This comes to you from a Cypriot who happens to be of TC background...Try peddling love and compassion for a change ,Nil..You might even feel better about yourself... 8)

Precisely what I would advice this young lady Bir .
If only they looked to the future , forget bitterness and hatred and work for the good of Cyprus.

It worries me,dear miltiades, that some amongst the younger generation seem to have imbibed hatred from their parents or grandparents...They have no idea what really happened in Cyprus back in the 50s ,60s and 70s,but they are certain it was the other side's fault entirely...I keep saying this,"there is no one as blind as he/she who refuses to see"...I hope Nil will make an effort to look beyong her blind prejudices, and that goes for some of the others here as well...

I dont blame Nil, she is just one of the thousands of brainwashed Greek/Turkish kids, but I do blame all others who attack and insult her in a very ugly way pretending the ''mature, educated'' guys .. what a shame..
They cld have invited her for a lunch at their homes or even for a cup of coffee if they were gentlemen..they wld have let her meet their own children somehow..
The only solution to win back all these young people and open their eyes is letting them share few hours face to face with their ''enemies''

I wish it was as simple as that,Precious...I spent 5 years working with a young person of Greek background in Sydney...This person was totally prejudiced against all things Turkish, including Turkish
Cypriots...No matter what I did or said she could never go beyond the fact that I was a Cypriot of Turkish background...Hence I was the enemy...I get the feeling that our Nil here might be another Rena... :( :(

...well said, thank-you.

i do not like to be made a nigger by any other word. (ms.nil will know what i am talking about)
too much of the labeling, and generalisations in our posts on this forum are toward that end.

if we as individuals are against violence we must act accordingly.
