American Diplomacy.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

American Diplomacy.

Postby Eliko » Mon May 19, 2008 5:16 pm

An American 'Sniper' has been withdrawn from service and sent home (or so we're informed) for having the unpardonable stupidity to use the Qur'an for target practice.

It gives us a little insight about the mind-set of the troops and of how little they understand the nature of those they now oppress.

Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond (U.S. Commander) has been obliged to organize a ceremony in which he publicly kissed a copy of a new Qur'an and delivered it into the hands of a representative of the tribesmen which are currently supporting the U.S.

Such an act, coupled with an abject apology, will no doubt satisfy the minds of the 'infidel' but will not escape the notice of the 'faithful' who will now realize with just how much respect the Americans do view them, regardless of the lip-service they pay to those tribespeople.

This small incident (according to us of course) could well be a trigger-action which discourages the support the Americans are receiving from their (newly acquired and highly paid) Sunni allies.

If the Sunni Arabs do not react in a manner which the tenets of their religion demands, it could well drive the wedge of division deeper between the different factions in that already troubled land.

You see, in political and military stratagies, even serious mistakes and errors of judgement can be turned to the advantage of the one who commits them.

I personally believe THIS mistake to be a very well thought out devious ploy by the U.S. since either way, they have an excuse to perpetrate more evils upon the innocents of that nation.

The ways of the Lord/Allah are strange ways, the ways of the Yanks are stranger.

In my humble opinion.

purdey, I know well enough that the Americans should NOT be in Iraq, I would imagine that every other person in the world is now aware of that.

It is the matter of how the Americans can justify their presence there that is currently their biggest headache.

You will probably have noticed how little information is reaching the general public these days, I think they may be hoping that atrocities elsewhere might reduce the focus on their evils.

With a shrug of the shoulders, that's MY opinion.

miltiades, pipe down for God's sake, I have clearly stated that that is my opinion, the fact that you may be unable to agree does not give you the right to accuse me of harbouring hatreds.

NOR does the mention of 'savages' lend any weight to your well known myopic views on most political events.

In my humble opinion ( open for contradiction obviously)

For no other reason then that someone used a "book" in such a manner I view as worthy of the utmost chastisement.

The parallels with Bradbury's novel "Fahrenheit 451" leave one in no doubt this is an act of a dysfunctional America.

A modern form of book-burning.

Eliko your interpretation of this dystopian act is very interesting

Phoenix, strangely enough what the Maj. Gen . possibly fails to realize (and it IS quite significant) is that according to the tenets of Islam, the action of kissing the Qur'an is an immediate declaration of the acceptance of it's principles.

Therefore, the good Maj. Gen. is now in the unfortunate position of being responsible for the slaughter of his own people.

I think he should now adopt the title of 'Major General Jeffery bin Hammond' such a title does seem to possess a certain ring of dignity, don't you think ?.

In my humble opinion.
