In NHS terms. If they are overweight through choice and their illness is weight related, charge them. Smokers the same, and drinkers.
Keeping healthy is easy, eat well, exercise. Saying that it is down to choice.

Agreed, but unfortunately the 'Obese ' are mainly from the deprived/depraved classes. In our wlfare state they will always 'get it free'.

Maybe so, but how is it calculated ?
I took part in a local medical survey a year ago. We were weighed, measured and had to fill in a diet form for a 4 week period, along with excercise taken. We never saw the other people in the survey until the results were in.
I am 6ft 1in tall.
31 inch waist.
46 inch chest.
weigh 13 stone.
I run, swim every day. I eat fresh fruit, veg, and white meat. I do not smoke or drink. I was told my by the doctor at the end of the survey I was on the borderline of been obese.
I am probably classed by these guys now as been obese ?

A lot of the problem with these "surveys" is that they use the Body Mass Index (BMI). This, I have always thought, is a very misleading scale, but so many organisations use it. It doesn't take into account build (Someone my height could have large muscles, small frame, no muscle large frame etc, etc. It goes on).

I am 188 cms tall and according to the BMI scale my ideal weight is 82 kgs. Shit, I'd look like like a pipe cleaner, and very ill if I was this weight.

I much prefer to use the Body Fat method. Basically using a caliper, you check how much body fat you have. The lower the figure the better. Simple. And easier to monitor. And it doesn't matter what body type you are.

Or the Special K method. If you can pinch more than an inch, you are fat.

I don't think there's any need to be that scientific about it!

Didn't Terry Wogan use the method of being able to see your toes, if you looked down, whilst standing up straight? ... as an indicator for the need to lose weight!

Cyprus is second!

At least we are best at something.

Come on Cyprus. Get eating1

All we have to do is exile Halil to the Seychelles and Cyprus would drop to 15th place... 8)
