Racism in Cyprus

I don't think you can blame Mountbatten for the increasing divergence between the Hindus and Moslems in the 1940s; the Moslems just did not want to live under majority Hindu Rule, once the British left.

I see parallels with Cyprus and Sri Lanka; in both cases minorities sought separation following the departure of the British.

Simon, you are digging a big hole. You cannot go around tarring all with the same brush.

Maybe, I know you can't tarnish everyone with the same brush. There are good and bad in every colour and nation etc. But since these bombings have taken place my opinion has changed towards the Muslim culture. I fully appreciate that not all are bad and there are good people too, of course. All the terror alerts in UK are now caused by one culture, correct me if I am wrong.

England would be a nicer place without people like that. There are certain groups that all there mind set involves in is bombing the world;.

Will the Moderators please respect the "General Chat" section and not bring up politics into every thread ....

However, I do agree; but I would suggest it is no mere coincidence that these countries under discussion, suffered the same fate upon the departure of their common "Master" ....

Funnily enough there used to be a country called 'Palestine' until a man with a big 'Nose' decided to partition it.

8) that would be the "british"master then? not the Dutch,Potuguese,German, russian, turkish,French masters...........
as an aside i do not use the word "paki" but it is a four letter word the same as Brit, Taff, Jock , Mick. '
On the point of Children being racist, lets not forget they are born a blank sheet - it is adults/parents that learn them the fundamentals....

I don't want to spoil the party, but using P*k* word is deemed a racist comment in UK law and an arrestable offence just the same as the n***er word, whether inciteful or not . Though, what does grate with me is, amongst their own ethnic groups the words are used in general everyday use in non-antagonistic ways, in fact in near terms of endearment!!! As soon as someone outside their ethnic group utters one of these words, they're hauled into court.

I mention this as I think we have to be very careful. Remember, the text here is WRITTEN proof if an allegation was made.

I don't agree with it, but that is the sad truth of it.
